Soloman King/levi Jackson

I've heard comflicting stories recently about This Beautiful Day. Is Levi Jackson Soloman King recording under a different name, or is Levi Jackson a completely different artist who recorded for King and King took the credit?

WAS RELEASED 1ST UNDER SOLOMON KING THEN RELEASED UNDER THE NAME LEVI JACKSON, IT WAS COLUMBIA RECORDS WAY OF TRYING TO SELL MORE RECORDS...SO YES THEY ARE THE SAME PERSON

Much has been written about this record over the years, but it's always turns out just like all the other times?

It's a bit like watching any feature clip on Northern Soul that we all have witnessed an embarrassed Soul-star trying to be efay with the media interviewer, and the same tripe comes spewing out of their gob! Q, "how many people turn up for the event" A, "they here about the All-Nighters from their mates, word of mouth or read about it in BLUES & SOUL MAGAZINE." Q, Do they come far?.

A, They come from as far a field as Lands End and from John O' Groat's.

Now I have been to many of the great All-Nighters, and I have never met some Scotchman from John O' Groats? and when I went to Lands End no one lives there, and the girl who made the tea was a sumer temp from Barnstable? she was so way out she did not know the day of the week? and she defo did not go to the CASINO ITell's you!

SOLOMON KING V LEVI JACKSON...Once upon a time the Levi Jackson record especially the stock.. the issue was considering the rarest! However it is the Solomon King DEMO that is by far the rarest, as it was actually the B side when it got it's first plays at the TORCH by KEITH who I assume discovered it as the reissue by Levi Jackson, the record was available for 4 months then deleted about the time it started to get played (remember the TORCH played many records that were not even 3 years old and a few were still in the shops, BUSTER PEARSON was one of KEITH'S cover up's) back then the very thought that the record was sung by Mr "she wares my ring" was as bad as if Ken Dodd had done "street cred" was vital then whether you come from Lands End or John O' Groat's DAVE

In 1974 King recorded the title song for the feeble film The Doll Squad, starring Francine York, which is now seen as a prototype for Charlie's Angels. He had recorded a gospel song, "This Beautiful Day", under a different pseudonym, Levi Jackson, and, although the single sank without trace in 1971, it was reactivated in 1978 and became popular on the Northern Soul circuit.

Got the Levi Jackson issue.....Mr King tried a myriad of other styles....I know because I have bought nearly every other release by him hoping that there would be another "Beautiful Day" style track...as if this track wasn't trodden.Anyway Life Child (Polydor) and Don't be a Sinner (Columbia)aint too bad.Unfortunately he will be always be remembered for She Wears My Ring.A bit Like Long John Baldry with Le Those Heartaches Begin.

he was a friend of ian lavines father i seem to remember, i remember ian telling me that S/K changed the name to L/J on his advice, as it sounded more like a soul singer!

the vocalist on this beautifil day doesnt sound anything like the she wears my wring vocalist..unless solomon had a sense of humour which he may have had
