I would never post my wants list any more. I am even careful what dealers I send it to. When I first joined here I posted a long want list in wants and some dude verbatim stole it and posted on his myspace (he's still here...). I probably would show it to a good friend though, especially if he wasn't as deep into the specific genre / records as I was.

So true...Blimey that could be 'One hell of a' separate thread couldn't it? Title... "Being Blinded by Vinyl" ...Subtitle - 'When Friends Have Let You Down'...We think we have seen threads go nasty, this one could be a corker! he he. Just things like giving friends your wants list, they buy records off it not known to them, have a 'check' / listen then 'secretly' keep the b*stard for themselves! - Yes you’re so right, when it comes to Vinyl; sometimes 'Honour' is straight out of the window.....But not for my good friend Dave Vanner!

All the best,

Len.
Ive had that same experience..im real hesitant to post my wants on here myself..some people I deal with read my list and try to beat me to it rather than help me find it! although I do still post in the wants occasionally but not often at all..

i know ive bored people with this in the past but i did swap my tomangoes and cecil washington for a vivien carroll on merben..  ..dont think ive told this one before tho..on a smaller scale

in 1997 i went to rotherham on saturday just scounting about as you do and popped into that little record shop near the train station..back track..used to be run by snowy but someone else had got now and snowy had moved his shop to doncaster...the new guy always had a couple of boxes of soul stuff in and while i was looking thru spotted a duke issue of can you remember by rhonda davis. how much is this i enquired......£1 says the fella ..i knew the 45 but couldnt quite remember what it went like. but i didnt want to play it in the shop in case someone smelt a rat so i bought it and a couple more bits then left....now i knew i seen this record on lists in the past for around £15 so i thought result  ......got it home played it and thought yeh its ok might have something..not brilliant tho. i ummed and ahhed about rhonda for a month or so but when another 45 i wanted came up it had to go. first night out in the sales box i took it down to the atheletic club in mexboro. where dave hugill came up and said how much for rhonda....err £25 says i...not seen one for a while...i`ll take it says dave. off he goes with his record..about half hour later dave box , who was guest dj that night comes up to me and says have you just sold this to yogi...yes i said thinking what a good salesman i am  ............ bloody hell says boxy...pat brady just sold it for £150 today............... ...now i usually do a bit of groundwork but on this occassion i didnt

Isn't your whole thing buying good records, having them for a while, and reselling? If that's your mode of collecting, I don't see the point of regretting it, you got new records that are good to listen to.

I was after that M.Davis for years after hearing it on one of those infamous Koppell Detroit tapes that were in circulation during the 8T's.
Eventually got one (was dog rare for so long, but yes copies have surfaced over the years) and to be honest haven't played it much since getting it...indeed was thinking of moving it on...until I read this thread.
It has now moved shelves back to where it should rightly be...for now at least!

I remember you & tats (with Rob Wigley I think), just leaving Street Corner Music in Ferndale, MI not longer after I walked in, about 1989/90

I remember being quite down as I thought I wasn't going to get anything as you lot had obviously cleaned it out. So I started looking through the 25 cent bin full of records with no sleeves, and I found Danny Moore on Allrite in there amongst others. Sold it to Pete Lowrie for a grand :)

I've actually sold two records that I regret selling not because they're rare, but I realized I really like them.

One is George Carrow Angel Baby red label stock. I have had the chance to buy it again, but cash is tight.

The other is Christopher Cerf's Sweet Music. I've seen it once since I sold it, but it is priced at about $100, which is out of my budget.

Oh well, that's the way it goes.

Regretted selling the Casualeers - Dance, Dance, Dance on a demo for £20 about 10 years ago but only because the price shot up to £200 after the guy I sold it to started playing it. It had been in my sales box for a year before that. Its probably back to 20 now (I hope!)

Really regret selling my white label 70's pressing of Reconsider though, only got a few quid and didn't need it, I'd just got tired of my records. I sold a lot of originals around the same time and don't miss any of them.

Anyone got one cheap?

Have sold many big titles in the past but the one i really regret selling was a Donald Lee Richardson-Palm of your hand White Demo ,strangely enough, i would not put it in my top ten favourite sounds but the disc just had something :g: if you collectors know what i mean.

annoying(in a way) was lending Rob Marriott the Hyperions (i had played it early doors at Trotters) i´d had it for ages and just couldn´t get the break with it,Rob was just into his peak time and played it at the hundred club(six times i believe!!) after that it was his sound and no way was i getting it back :D gave me 350 quid for it though so ok.

I've shared this before too. I sold The Hypeerions on Chatahoochee to buy Kim Katrell on Tyson records. I went on to sell that too. I must admit, I had one of the first few copies of The Hyperions and when a further 15 or so emerged I got sick of hearing it. I then found Kim Katrell boring so got rid... F*ck me.. What was I thinking.. Deeply regret both now, especially Kim Katrell, mint copy too.... Idiot..
