OK, so how do the mugs buying them know they have ab original ?

experience/knowledge . anyone who knows, will spot an original patch from a photo... i've seen a few repro's on ebay sell for daft money because the seller lists them as 'original'
its not the buyers' fault for buying them, its the sellers' fault for misleading them in the first place

Never been a "badger" myself
But I do remember the worst one that we had given to us at the 3rd anniversary @ wigan
It was a square piece of cloth with a badge printed in the middle bit like a cheap hanker chief !

Yes "not a Patch" on the proper ones and if i remember rightly the next morning after the 3rd Anniversary ther were many of them strewn about the floor and left on tables etc ! So that one is probably quite rare LOL !

Exactly! - Memories, to me the badges and memberships I've kept are souvenirs that act as reminders to where I've been over the years, I will hopefully look through them when in the old people's home.

I think in the 'old days' (70's) it was kind of fashionable to wear patches etc, pretty sure I remember people wearing patches on the knees of jeans (Not soul people, 'normal people!') :D - I suppose I was at that hieght at the time!

All the best,

Len.

I have one of the original Blackpool Mecca badges, see my avatar, these were made at an army regimental badge maker
back in the 70's. Has wire thread is a little faded now but its a great badge.

Yes, I to have memories, genuine ones at that and no 'Rose tinted glasses' in sight.

Rock Street Youth Club? - Chr*st, I can't believe you mentioned that place Terry! I actually went there once (Or maybe twice...) Didn't feel comfortable in my parka surrounded by Body Poppers though - Yes, this was the 80's folks!

All the best,

Len.

:hatsoff2: Hi All I always liked the badge thing, even before the Northern Soul Badges, as A kid I wanted a set of US ARMY SGT STRIPES, & a FISH TAILED PARKER, WITH MEDELS & BADGES ON,
I have always looked at the badge thing as being very MOD, as it made a statement, OK I do agree for some of you it may be crass,
I can still vivadly remember the TORCH LOOK of a LEVI jacket with the TORCH bade above 1 pocket & the BLACK RIGHT ON FIST above the other, SKINNER JEANS and ROYALS, And I think the reason that I might give them more time, is the fact going to an All-Nighter was a long trip. for example WIGAN was 280 miles trip, and the badge was a statement,
HERE IS THE 1st PROTOTYPE, FOR THE EAST ANGLIAN SOUL CLUB 1975, I AM NOT SURE BUT I THINK IT IS THE ONLY ONE MADE? IT WAS GIVEN TO ME BY KEN COX, DAVE 69

I have some of the wigan badges in my bottom drawer but never wear them mostly anniversaries and the very last wigan casino one. I dont need to wear badges to show were I have been it is in my head and my heart forever. Personal choice I suppose. :)

Think I might sell mine if they fetch that kind of money. I have about 7 Wigan badges, never been near a needle and thread to be put on anything. Likewise, loads of EASC stuff, anniversary patches etc etc. For some unknown reason to me, the only badges I had that were sewn onto anything were the "mickey mouse" satin backed badges which were a bit smaller in size to the normal ones. Did I have a premonition..... anyone buying. Maybe I'll put em up in sales or is e-bay best?????

My ex had (it seemed like) every badge going stuck to an old Adidas holdall bag (the white one with the letters and the motif on it) he bought every badge going whether or not he had been there or not, it was plastered with them, and he used it as his Sunday morning/5 a side football bag until it got stolen from the changing rooms at the Pitz in Sheffield some years ago, all his other stuff was left and nobody else had anything taken so it looked like someone just wanted that, he went berserk over the loss (and is still on the look out for it even today)
