steve m why are you like a dog with a bone i appologised did not name names,but it doesnt seem enough for you,as for paying dues its figurative,though i once did buy a record advertised on this site as monique- if you love me show me-maurcie 225 plus 40for p.o.s yes i thought it was v.cheap but when it dropped through my door it was monique-never let me go-maurcie,so i phoned a few friends to see if anyone knew the seller and was assured he was a straight up bloke,and traded the record on without making a fuss over it,so does that count as 265 quids worth of dues on one record,after reading some of the sarcastic poison wrote on this thread,by people who think they are somehow superior beings i could just change my mind.

Ted, firstly, my comment was about you and Kev Roberts using the phrase 'paying my dues', The comment was aimed at both of you, not just you, and I never mentioned your original post. I've commented about this ridiculous phrase before, so it can't be aimed just at you.

Re Monique, why would I sell a £500+ record for £225. And oddly, why did no one else spot this bargain. The list was up a while before you bought it.

You never rang me or I would have given you your money back.

Finally, I never charged you £40 for postage. Where do you get that from ?

Sounds as though were in a bit of the backwoods up here Kev---Not so----There are probably as many if not more soul nights on weekly in the North East as anywhere---just dont have any nighters.

As for northern and modern---theres not much if anything that gets played anywhere that isnt available here,there are some great ,knowlageable collectors up here and this reflects in the quality of some of the local soul do,s

As for the modern side Liana and Cubo can rate along with anyone(thats not me being biased by the way)

Both are proven nighter D.J.s

Hope that gives you some idea

Current playlists are availible for The Cumby on the Aycliffe Soul Club web site. Other venues which attract a good crowd are Easington , Piercebridge and The Fed . There are several others in the area too numerous to mention but you can find them all on the Aycliffe Soul Club site along with their radio station.

Also talk to the lads (and lass) who are doing spots that night Steve , Liana, Wally, Toma etc , they are all regular niter attendees and all know the score
