For THURSDAY 15 DECEMBER 2005, we've had a really original idea and thought we'd have ourselves another one of those soulful events called: XMAS PARTY

We've been dreaming of a White Christmas for

SNOW-A-WAY SOUL

so

our "ho ho ho" jolly guest DJ is that lovable :
JOHN WESTON
(and his records aren't bad either!)

Fancy dress is optional, but personally -> I'd like to see lots of red

8pm start and 11pm finish (longer if you all keep drinking!)

Entry is still free (but you can always buy your favourite DJ a drink,
we're sure John would appreciate it )

Er thanks James, I better remove that. Truth is, the venue now has a licence til 3am. However, as most people work on Fridays (including us!) - the longest we've lasted is midnight (as last month). We've only closed once before 11:30 in the last 6 months - it was very quiet in September .
So we're probably comfortable until 11:30pm, but it's up to the drinkers......

I'm sure I can persuade a few drinkers to keep me company, well it is Xmas after all and we cant have a lost sheep wandering the cold, cold streets of Walthamstow with no where to go after midnight, even Joseph found an inn to get into. (oh yeah that was Bethlehem)

I believe the bar has a licence until 1am on Thursday - so everyone will be OK for work the following day.

You do realise that John Weston is the guest DJ, and he doesn't have work the next day. You'll be lucky to get him out of the bar before 4 am, never mind 3 am

Oh dear . I had a surprise fly-in from Sydney last night, so had another late one . Still trying to unpack from last weekend, so I can pack for this weekend now (last chance tonight). Too tired to move or do the next flyer. Er, I will be the one with toothpick eyes . Hope Santa brings me lots of spare hours this year...

BTW, the usual panic has set in :
We have a travelling guest - but will anyone actually turn up???

Smartest thing I did was to take a day off today and book a late afternoon train (xmas shopping in York tonight). Got Mr Weston recovering on the lounge - he did us proud, playing an early and late set, finishing on the decks at 12:57 !!!
I should probably type up his plays later (can't be in order, as he was well into the Christmas spirit ) - coz he had us smiling and dancing away - well worth noting them down . Thanks John, even if you don't like chile in your food (when you say you do) .
(I might help him set up his Soul_Source account today as he's getting broadband soon.)

Big thanks also to all who came along, but especially James (aka RedFox) who enjoyed last month so much (when he was in London anyway) that he travelled over from Cardiff yesterday just for Stow-A-Way Soul . Lovely also to meet Cressi (aka WarmnJuicy) who has kindly already sent a thanks pm this morn.

Not as many soulies as last month (a couple of regulars were missed), but the numbers were on the high side with some newbies in the bar. Sadly, they enjoyed it too, but they don't bother us too often . Mostly this is a pub night for friendly chat with background soul music, only with the odd dance when the booze takes over - nothing like a real soul night .


Hope to see many more of you next month. Our guest dj is Arthur Fenn, who is coming down from Yorkshire to play for free at our local pub. Actually, it's a favour for my birthday - I'll need someone "nice" to let me cry on their shoulder that night .

Gotta dash, I hear Mr Weston calling - I think he needs another Guinness

I know I'm biased but I really enjoyed it last night, excellent social occasion as usual with music to match. Great to meet James, and excellent to see the various regulars down there Sadly I had to leave as things were hotting up as the babysitter was waiting.... John was great as well, of course

Best of all, I looked in my wallet, and Martin RB man had given me a SIGNED BLANK CHEQUE!!! It's honalulu for Xmas Audra, get packing

Just got back to Cardiff (yawn yawn), after partaking in a bit of clubbin down the west end til 5am. Why do I always do that?!

Great to meet so many new people last night, all mega friendly with a fabulous atmosphere once again.

Girls you did a tremendous job with some wicked tunes and also great set from John.

Well worth the trip, roll on January. If you havent been before check it out, once bitten back for more.
