Northern, crossover, funk and 60’s soul

Classic Sullivans - Shame, shame, shame - Master Key / VG / £50 (Classic Chicago soul! “Shame, shame, shame”- side plays with light background noise in the intro before clearing up, flipside slightly worse with light background noise almost throughout. Nothing major doesn’t overpower the music. Small writing, says “B” and “*”.)

Esquires - That ain’t the reason / Dancin’ a hole in the world - Rocky Ridge / EX / £40 (Rarer white demo. Lovely midtempo soul as always from this fantastic group. I prefer the flip version of “Dancin’ a hole in the world” to the ultra rare Jimmy Delphs one. A “B” written on the “Dancin’...” side.)

Ideals - The mighty lover - Boo-Ga-Loo / VG- / £40 (NS classic time! Both sides of the record is absolutely covered in light marks. Good news is that “The mighty lover” side plays well, only a little light background noise in the intro before clearing up. TML label side has light general wear and a “B” written with red ballpoint pen, flipside label is clean.)

Mystics - That’s the kind of love - Teako / VG+ / £30 (The original lowrider soul. Green label copy. Vinyl has some light marks but plays well, except the flipside intro which has some light background noise before clearing up. X on label, barely noticable.)

Pat & Pam - Hey love / My baby and I - Day Dreaming / EX / £10 (One of my alltime faves, essential Chicago soul. Halfway through the song breaks down to a deep trippy feeling courtesy of Tom Washington and the backing band Larry & the Hippies. Flip is more straight forward Lovelites soul.)

Wales Wallace - Somebody I know - BRC / VG+ / £20 (Rare white demo copy just shy of EX with some light superficial sleeve marks not affecting play. $75 from Craig Moerer.)
