60s ebay sellers must be thinking what the hell happening £30 and up, its been played a bit but there must be loads at junk shops car boots????????

It got to #2 in the charts. That would have been a lot of sales in 1962. I've always had an affection for HS. She was 14 when she had her first hit and I was about 9. At that time adults were totally in charge, kids to be seen and not heard. Suddenly it was like your older sister was at the top of the charts. You started to think if she could do it maybe anyone could do it. It definitely signaled the beginning of a new era. 2nd verse of her first hit. It really resonated with my little 9 year old brain. LOL :D

Its often said that youngsters should be seen and not be heard

But I want you to realize

Thats quite absurd

Dont wanna be so meek and mild

So please dont treat me like a child

But then when the new era really gathered pace - the Beatles et al - she got left behind with the old era. A 1963 tour started with HS topping the bill and the Beatles as support. By the end of the tour the Beatles had been promoted to close the show and HS demoted to support. That's about as poignant as it gets.

Great voice though, and some excellent songs.
