Well not really what I was expecting... but then i'm not really sure what i was expecting...
I must say this was differnt to the allnighters I usually attend.. usually you have soul from start to finish.. at Tune Up, they like to book a mix of dj's so the music changes throughout the night... and all the dj's doing a couple of spots each...
This worked well with a good mix of soul, northern, r'n'b, ska & rocksteady.. all the dj's played good sets and it kept the crowd on the dance floor, they was a good friendly crowd.. a couple of people i spoke to even came down from derby to support one of the dj's... there was a few Soulies and a few Skinhead/Suedeheads in there, but it was mainly people who had gone out for the night to enjoy thier selves and have a dance and an enjoyable night all this made it a good friendly atmosphere...
The venue its self is in the front of a pub.. with a big chill out area out the back with leather settes and tables.. but looking at the dancefloor not many people were chilling out..they was drinking and dancing and enjoying their evening..
but i would say its not really an evening for Soul connoisseurs, but if your in London and your meeting mates for a drink i'd recommend it...
Any way i'm never any good at write ups.. we met up with some friends there who are none soulies and we all enjoyed the evening, so the format that Tune Up is using is working...
any way i'll leave it there for now..
but i'd just like to thank Smart Phil for asking me to dj and for an enjoyable evening..
