Sorry, I appear to have missed the first post but being a bit older than the rest I need my sleep and after 2 consecutive nights I need a lot of sleep..........lol. Anyway here goes:-
A massive thank you from all at YKSoul to those who attended and supported the Arthritis Research Campaign(ARC) Charity Soul Night last night @ The Pitcher & Piano, Coney Street, York.
A total of over £500 was raised.
We'd like to give special thank you's to both Mitrefinch for lending us a projector and to John Funnell for lending us the sound system for the night. Not only does John hire us the kit for a pittance but he put some of the money back into the Charity box. Much appreciated.
Thanks also to Lynn and her other half(ARC) for manning the entrance all night, a thankless task but somebody's got to do it and we sold a few tickets on the door to a few of our younger Soulies out for a good night.
YKSoul have now raised over £41,000 since forming, for a variety of Charities.
A massive thankyou to our special guest DJ's on the night, the York SoulTrain Crew. Dave
, Di
& Harry
did just what it said on the tin ........... ENTERTAIN. They were brilliant and kept the floor throbbing all night to an excellent, across the board mix of soul sounds. This is the second time they have joined us @ the P&P and they seem to make the place come alive just by being there. A special thankyou also to our very own Ricky Nelson
who is blossoming into a DJ with his own distinctive sound, who started the evening off.
As usual our ladies Marie and Ange managed a bucket of cash wandering around the taverns in the local vicinity who were listening in to some free cool sounds. Simon continues to amaze at places he positions the projector to get the best results for the visual display. Nice one Simon.
Our next function will be on the 16th August 08. This will be our 2nd Charity All-Dayer and is already proving to be a popular event so get your tickets soon.
The photo's of last night's event will be on the website soon so keep checking.

After yet another brilliant night at THE WILTON on friday Chris and I spent much
of saturday and sunday
just lying around not doing too much;(It dunt half take it out on ya doing niters in ya mid 50's than in ya 20's).By the time we got to sunday afternoon we had recovered enuff to want to pop out somewhere but not have to travel far.So we thought we would have a walk into town and pop into the charity soul nite at Pitcher and Piano in YORK-practically down the road for us.Am so glad we went now as we ended up having a right good time.It took a while for it to fill up a bit but there again we did get there early doors.Harry and Diane were there when we arrived;and allthough I have known Harry for years,I didnt know Di at all.Well! I do now.We hit it off straight away and really enjoyed their company which contributed to the good night out we had there.I had never heard Di 's DJ'ing
spots at all,but both Chris and I were well impressed with the spot she put together.I DO like me uptempo sounds and Di did the business for me throughout her spot. It's the first time I have danced
throughout the whole of a DJ's spot(apart from my hubbies;on the very rare occasions he
does a spot at WILTON).I even had to ask her to put on summut slower cos I thought I were going to have a coronary keeping up dancing to the excellent choice of uptempo sounds Di were playing.Well done lass!you have 2 new fans now.
Thanks also to the promoters for providing a good night out just down t'road from us.It ended off the weekend perfectly for us.

Wally & Trish,
It was nice to meet you for the first time and you and your friends really seemed to be enjoying yourselves which is what it's all about.
A little dicky bird tells me you also bought your All-Dayer tickets so you really will have some fun that day.
Look forward to seeing you there.
