No doubt about it, it's still one of the best weekenders I have ever been to!

Wonderful people, soul music, architecture, food and laughter.
It didn't even intefere with my week of insomnia, as it was too good to sleep through.
Totally shattered today though

Many, many thanks to Suzanne and Malayka
m

Maria,
thanks for coming back and playing again for us...but be careful, soon you'll have a fan club in bamberg consisting of young men between 17 - 23 :D

All involved played serious sets, but my hat must go off to Butch (again) who for the very first time ever managed to get the Modern room really "hot" already on the friday night. Again it was him who really got things off there on the saturday night. His Northern set that night was again "steaming hot". Don`t know when the last time was I nearly danced thru a whole set. fab-fab-fabulous !

Just want to add our thanks to Malayka and Suzannah for a fantastic weekend. Only grumble was that due to Liz working in a school we didn't make it until Saturday morning which meant that the weekend was over far too soon. I think a sicky has already been booked for next year.

Bamberg is a fantastic city and was the perfect venue. Met up with lots of old friends and made some very good new ones. Met up with a couple of nutters Gail and Sharron (aka Kevin and Perry - see pictures in gallery) at Stanstead and they had us in stitches all weekend.

All the DJ's played fantastic spots and kept the dancefloor busy all night.

Once again thanks to everyone involved, we will definately back next year.

Mark and Liz
SATURDAY 24th MARCH 2012 The Metro Heritage Hotel, Macklin St, Derby. DE1 1LF GUEST DJ' s MARK FREEMAN & BARRY COOPER with resident DJ's Jason, Kev and Mark + Room 2 Ska & Reggae with Phil Bush Pressure Sounds System 9pm to 2am Admission £4 on the door. Great venue with large wooden dance floor. Cheap beer HAPPY HOUR 9-10 www.soulinburton.com

yes you are right i did dance to some seventies/modern records over the weekend but... (dont tell anyone they were really good) I promissed the young swiss soul disciples that next year there would be lots of sixties rooms all over Bamberg !... well thats pernod for you,if the truth is told its daves fault 'cause he and Butch were talkin about a Stafford revival !

JUST JOKING THE WEEKEND COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER IN A MILLION YEARS

yeah, and i'll have a look back as well.
first must say not only thanks but also congratulations to susanne and malayka for making the soul shakers weekender what it now is.

last year when i came home i said something like "the best soul-experience i can imagine", of course in excitement and i was uncontent with the phrase afterwards, because it seemed bustling and wrong. but then i thought about it and if someone would ask me what a certain must-go-weekend in germany is, i'd say: bamberg.
never attended a soul night or event outside of germany (will do the soul essence next hopefully) and until i experience an event as good as this, bamberg will be the first thing to mention.

spent most of the nights in the modern room and saw butch playing an AWESOME set on friday. ady pountain nearly killed me on saturday. those two sets stood out for me, of course a great selection all weekend long, but still.

also want to thank malayka for inviting me to play a few records in that atmosphere as well.
here's the list. stefan, didn't hear that hi-lites record.
