Well done Taffy and the Guys, yet another wicked night at the Irish club.
A big thanks to all the DJs for keeping the floor busy and me dancing all night, with special thanks to the guest DJs Steve Jay, Neil & Dolly for paying some great tunes.
Lastly a special thanks to Steve and his lovely wife Theresa for the lift and for their company throughout the night, but mostly for the much needed cup of tea at the services afterwords.
Cheers Melvyn

Totally agree with Melvyn , never heard a bad tune all night. .
Numbers were a bit down but those who were there made up for it.
The dance floor was never empty which is always great to see especially with this weather and half the attendance out side smoking and cooling down.
Toby and Mandy , lovely couple ,passionate about their soul and its people like these that makes this scene so special . I don't really know the other promoters but you can see the way they love playing their tunes the are just as passionate so where were you locals then . I can understand the oldie only fans not fancying as it was mostly modern ,70s and crossover played ,but that never stopped Andy & mark going and they hate it .( how much talc did mark use
Sorry , I don't normally say anything about all this , just turn up ,get smashed, dance making others look good then go home but it pissed me of a bit .
Anyway I enjoyed it so did many others .
See you at the next one.

Really glad it went well and just sorry I couldn't make this but as Toby and Taffy both know, I wouldn't of missed this without good reason, its the best night in Herts IMO but sometimes family commitments have to come first.
Can't wait to be back at the Irish Centre in August.

Great set as always Steve, one of the best deejays in the country .
I said the numbers were a bit down if anyone thought I meant low attendance it was far from it and it didn’t effect atmosphere.
Sorry Steve if it looked that way, but its happening all the time . I see it at most places ,If your regulars cant make it, all have good reasons for not making it then your attendance drops. Not enough new faces to cover, got their own Soul nights.
Which is shame when you have good nights like this and people don’t flock to it .
Going Back into my shell .

I picked up Steve G from Cheshunt and headed up the A1M to Letchworth, nice to do that drive in the light. Toby was on the decks when we walked in, and it didn't take long to get me out there to Ooh Baby.
Taffy took over and immediately had me on my feet again when he played one of my favourite Modern records, the Essex IV's majestic My Heart Just Can't Take It, I was the only one dancing, but I just didn't care, lol. Thanks for playing my request for Marcia Hines, and also great to hear the Impalas.
It was the first time I'd heard and seen Steve Jackson DJ, but I hope it won't be the last. He did a superb across the board set, you don't often hear Cry Myself To Sleep, one I love. A really nice mix of music, and just had to dance to Joi Cardwell's Let It Go. That is a record I really want to get, but not seen it on any list. I hope I can get up to Lincolnshire when Steve G guests at your club.
Steve was on next, and as usual did an excellent set, something we have come to expect. The only trouble for me was that I'd danced so much my right foot was beginning to play up a bit. So just stood and enjoyed the sounds.
Last on were Dolly and Neil. And again it was a good mixed set, across the decades. Nice to hear Teddy Pendergrass, funnily enough just bought that the other month. Also good to hear And In Return, lovely record, first heard by me at These Old Shoes, played by Dave Flynn (more trivia).
And it was really nice at the end of their set when Neil played Bobby Sheen and the Sweet Three, how he declared his love, really nice to see people in love, guess I'm just an old sentimentalist.
Therefore musically a great evening. And socially too, nice to see John and Noreen from MonuMental, Darcy and Annie, Pete B and Liz, Sue and Pete, Mandy and Toby, Reg, if I've missed anyone blame my useless memory. Thanks for all your sympathy about Benji and your kindness.
Shame the numbers were slightly down, but those absent missed a great night. Thanks to Toby and Taffy, can't wait for August, but I am really nervous.
