Well i'm not long in from the event, and feel i must put down my thoughts, on the site, although i'm still a little in "sensory overload" after listening to one of the best DJ spots i've heard in these past 35 plus years.
First i will as ever raise the point, that our taste in music is very objective, so this is a report from my view point, and others might disagree, but from where im standing Colin's 90minute spot, was awesome, to say the least.
The content, mainly Mecca plays, with the majority from the '74/'76 period, with a sprinkling of 60's fits into my favourite era of music, and it oozed pure class and soulfulness to the MAX
As i said to Colin, and probably everyone else, its like getting in from a shite night out and thinking, right now ill sit and play the records i most like to hear, the ones that get you deep inside....well the spot Colin played was throughout its entirety the records i would choose myself
Not a record came on that i don't love, it was warm as hell in there, but i danced me ass off, finally having to elect to go for a quick pee and fag when a record i knew to be around 5 mins lond mean't i could do it , and only miss the one.
Thanks Mr Curtis...........quality always shines through............and tonight you certainly gave us a dazzler
Sorry to all at Bishops Wood we intended to come after the man's spot but it took too long to come down from the rafters to be able to get there.
Certainly put the somewhat dull unimaginative efforts we spend nights hearing week in week out into perspective, pity they dont have the suolfullness or craft to take it on board.
Thanks to all concerned..a great night i'll treasure
Harpo
