Went back to Lowton for the first time in about eight years, don't know why it took me so long to go back?
Great stuff played, will be back again.
More importantly, I was handed four 7"s that someone had left or lost, just get in touch with the details and I'll get 'em back to the rightful owner.

SOUL MUSIC...FELLOW SOULHEADS ...ENOUGH FOR ME TO SAY...I HAD A GROOVEY TIME..BUT IT WERE A BIT WARM....
MR PHILLIP SHIELDS WAS STAYING IN SALFORD CASTLE WITH US AND BLESSING THE DECKS WITH HIS HOT WAX IN THE DDA SUITE !!!!
MR COLIN WOOD DISPENSING SOME LOVINGLEY PICKED PLATTERS WAS ON GOOD FORM & HE'S NOW OFFICIALLY MY AGENT/ PR MAN/ UBER-COOL SALESMAN ...AS HE PLAYED BOBBY TAYLOR ON MOWEST..THEN IN TOP DEL-BOY TRADITION ANNOUNCED I HAD ONE FOR SALE ...TOP MAN !!! AND IT WENT TO A VERY GOOD HOME INDEED !!!! (REALLY HOPE YOU ENJOY IT !!! HEY HOW COULD YA FAIL ???
SERIOUSLY I ALWAYS HAVE A BIT OF CRAIC AT LOWTON (and I'M not talking THE GROSS PRODUCT OF COLUMBIA HERE !!!) AND ALWAYS..ALWAYS .... HEAR SOME MIGHTY FINE TUNES !!
ALWAYS HAVE A BIT OF A JIG IN THE MAIN-ROOM TOO.( WELL LOTSA JIGZ ACTUALLY)..but most of the time i shake it in the Dadaist Happening THAT IS tHE DDA DEN OF DIRTY BEATS AND 'CHEATIN HEARTS' (thats the tunes not the groovers who support 'KARL , PAUL & The Whirling Dervish that is our very own 'JOAN LIVESY ( STAR OF STAGE & SCREEN) AKA JJ or JUMPING JOAN.......'MMMMMM JAZZ (groovey stuff Mr PS ).
I JUST LOVE CUTTING LOOSE ON A BIG FLOOR !!! BUT WITH A COUPLE OF FRACTURED TOES.....I'LL TELL YA WHAT...IT WAS RIGHT PAINFULL....BUT ' JOY & PAIN ARE LIKE SUNSHINE & RAIN ' TAKE A BOW MR FRANK BEVERLEY !!!!
TAKE A BOW ALL YE WHO JUST DON'T LET ANYTHING GET IN YER WAY..............
' SOUL IS THE ONLY DRUG YOU'LL EVER NEED ' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LUV ON YA

Thank you to Bill and the Captain for starting the thread. Agree with the initial comments about some of the faithful, these hot snaps (not to mention promoter 50ths the weekend B4) do tend to weaken the resolve, especially when the demon drink (a few tinnies after 'T') is calling !!!
But non-the-less a decent turn out in the main room and some VERY enjoyable tunage being spun by those involved. A full dancefloor as the lights went on at 2am is always a good sign for me.
Obviously can't detail the DDA playlists but will try to remember a few tunes spun in the main room on Friday. But before I do that would like to say thanks to Bob Hinsley and Rob Smith for excellent guest spots on Friday. I hope to get Mr Smith back to LOWTON and into a few other North West gigs soon - most enjoyable........ especially watching his style of 'organised chaos' djing; piles of records in paper sleeves all over the place and records like 'Heartache Souvenirs' and 'I'm Packing Up' on the floor....priceless!
Anyways......here's some of the musicians who's music was worshipped on Friday night by the LOWTON faithfull.....
Narbay, Groovettes, Del-tours, Du-Shonns, Executive Four, Don Varner, Perk Lee, Johnny James, Bobby Williams, Montclairs (Hey You) Little Jewel, Joe Mattews, Yvonne Caroll, Volcanos, Jimmy and the Entertainers, Districts, Sonatas, Ikettes, Ronnie McNeir (Pretty Girl), Heyes Cotton, Richie Adams, Martha Starr (Love Is), Fab Apollos, Toni and the Showmen, Jackie Beavers, Jesse Johnson, Tangeers, Minnie Epperson, James Dockery, Eddie Carlton, Tobi Lark, Calvin Grayson, Billy Preston, Bleu Lights and Two People to name but a few!!!
So try and pull your collective persona out of the humdrum and join us next month when the 'FunkyFeet' boys Chico and Mark Speakman will be joining us in the main room.

As said a fairly quiet night at Lowton Fri but still great stuff played in the DDA room from our Guests PHIL SHIELDS and COLIN WOODS. Thanks lads much appreciated.
Joan and Paul, always top stuff played by these two crazy friends.
Great to see everybody who turned out and hope to see you all second Fri next month when the guests in the DDA room are CHRIS JONES and STEVE THOMAS.
Sorry no play list from me this month, I'm off to bed, got an early start and another late finish tomorrow.
See you all Fri 13th June
KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE DDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
