Me Mark and Tony arrived at Sixhills around 9-30ish, when we walked in we were pleasantly surprised to find that there was already people up and dancing. It didn't take us long before we were up and dancing with them and from that moment on the night just got better and better.
This always did have the makings of being a good night due to the fantastic Dj lineup, a lovely venue, and possibly the most friendliest dancers you are ever likely to meet.
Well done and a big thank you to Sam and his team. Oh and by the way Sam it was lovely to meet you!
My only complaint was that my laundry has increased by all the shirts I changed during the course of the night due to the high temperature on and around the dance floor, the bloody sweat was poring out of me, infarct during Scotty's set I had to change shirts twice, well done Scotty a brilliant set of hundred mile an hour stompers that, as always, sorts the men from the boys (sorry girls no offense just a figure of speech).
Already looking forward to the next Sixhills nighter as this is one event that is defiantly worth the 220 mile round trip.
I'm of to bed now to try and catch up with some missing zeds.
Hope to see you all again soon, Melvyn

PHEW !!! What a weekend!! just landed back in Mombassa after a great weekend in the UK I went there especially to go this all-nighter, I wasn't disappointed. The venue is a large oval shaped building with a massive maple wood sprung dance-floor, very large stage and a booming sound system. As you enter the main room (there were three of them, Northern, R & B + a Modern) you are greeted by about 20+ record dealers some of whom would later DJ that evening. I spent far too much money as usual my mate Duce blagging some great vinyl at super prices. Some bargains to be had there for sure. I don't know how many punters the venue normally gets, I'd guess about 500 - 600 people there, maybe more it's tough to tell in such a large venue. Very impressive DJ line including Chris "I Am Motown" King who'd driven all the way from his house on his scooter, good going Chris. I got to chat with him at the bar where he seemed to buying drinks for everybody in sight, top geyser that Kingy.
The dance floor was rammed most of the night, I think I only ever left it to get a drink, go to the loo or search out a kiss from that ginger haired lovely hanging out at the bar. I got covered from head to toes in talc, the night porter at the hotel commenting and asking me if I worked in a bakery !!!!! Of course I don't those who know me know that I make flutes out of old piping that gets discarded at the port.
A N Y W A Y...............back to the venue............................The DJ's did us proud, I really like Pink Tailed Tony's set, a real "Something for everyone" type, I think I clapped to of all them he played. Chris King's alternative take "Superstition" had the dancers up on their feet showing us all how it's done. Just one small downside point, giving Dave Rivers a 3 hour spot proably not fair on the other DJ's as we all know Dave's collection is the envy of all Melton Mowbray residents, where do you find that stuff Dave ??
We arrived at 9 o'clock-ish and left just before 08.30-ish daylight but the floor was still packed, great night, looks like this is going to be one of the greatest all-nighter venues of this century, well done everybody see you there next time (er......when is that BTW ?)

Always a nice atmosphere in the main room, and I even got the 'spare' dancefloor to myself a couple of times in the sparsely populated r&b room.
btw. 3 rooms? Where was the other one?
3 Rooms !!! know only the 2 the Northern / RnB room ! Although i'd count the bar as my 3rd room as i spend most of my time there he he he

I liked they way mixed all the music up, modern, rare s**t, classics, motown, rare great
stuff, sure it wasn't planned but it did work well.
