Maybe I'm being a bit thick but still not clear about the line up - I've trawled the Barbican web-site to no avail and have resorted to emailing the box office in hope of clarification. Accepting no substitutes !

Mmm. Shame Jerry Butler is not involved...I`d walk on broken glass to see Jerry again!

I'd walk on hot bloody coals. I've been listening to The Ice man all this week, Good God - The man is SOUL itself.

I don't know about this specific tour, but their current lineup should be the same as the previous UK lineup -- sam, fred, and reggie torian, who was the lead singer for the longest time in the 70s (and previously in the enchanters on golden ear). super nice guy.

Bob, you confirm exactly what the 'Band on the Wall' website states (Band on the Wall being one of the organisers/sponsors)...

Expect to hear all the classics sung by The Impression's Fred Cash, Sam Gooden & Reggie Torrian, including People Get Ready, I'm So Proud, It's Alright, Move on Up and many more. With full 12-piece backing band The Curtom Orchestra and special guests to be announced, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to enjoy one of the greatest soul bands of all time live in Manchester. A Band on the Wall Fundraiser Event.

The line up will be Fred Cash & Sam Gooden, original members with Jerry Butler from 1959. Curtis's replacement is Reggie Torian who joined The Impressions in the LeRoy Hutson era. Got my tickets!!! Wow!!!

If anyone is interested, this month's (March) Manifesto magazine has an article on the Impressions prior to signing for ABC - Paramount.

,,,and talking of 'prior to ABC Paramount' (and, indeed, to Falcon/Abner/Vee Jay!) I should mention, too, that - in a completely unrelated event - Ace is next month releasing a CD called 'Bandera Doo-Wop', which contains several never before heard demos from the group's original 1957/8 audition tape including their original cuts of 'Sweet Was The Wine', 'I Found A Girl' (later recorded by Major Lance) and an althernate version of 'For Your Precious Love' to the one that I used on the Chicago edition of 'Birth Of Soul'...

Hope Cleggy doesn't impact on the attendances at the Imps shows, or vice versa...

What was the line up for the 70's gig Paul?

The Northampton line up was Fred Cash, Sam Gooden, and Reggie Torrian. They reckoned it to be their first ever UK gig ("because no-one has asked us before").

Wish I was going now - you're all in for a real treat!

I went to the Dells at Trentham Gardens and thought that it would never be surpassed but last night at the Barbican, the Impressions were TRULY AWESOME. Their backing band were as near to the ABC backing as you'll get. The three guy's voices were inspirational and their choreography was so cool. They opened with Gypsy Woman and I challenge anyone not to have a dry eye. And just wait until Fred Cash sings `You've Been Cheatin'`

By the way, there's some blond `singer` in the first half warm up and she was EMBARRASSING.

Keith

Where did you get to at the break? I would have paid for the drinks! HAHAHA

That "blond" singer wasn't that bad and at least she did look she was having a good time....albeit at our expense!
