The Channel 4 15 min programme in the series "Pioneers" concerning itself with Wigan Casino was shown last nite, not that bad considering the subject has been hammered so many times. Format was normal sound bites from many personalities intermixed with old film clips.

Yet again we publish some news that we think will be of interest to soul fans, in this case the sacking of a dj.
Yet again we have hysteric reaction from a certain person and his followers claiming conspiracies, campaigns, false postings and so on
All we do is try and let you know whats happening, and that is what we will continue to do, the attempts by others to influence this site with their threats will just give us more determination

"Well seems after initial reports a fuller picture is now quickly emerging -
he has indeed been sacked from the Ritz line up and also will not be asked back onto Jazz FM - but is still on at Togetherness.

Will just say those 12 + adverts featured on Jazz FM cellar of soul were...
...sheer hell. First time quite funny listening to a certain persons claims, but that very quickly wore off as they continued repeating them through the show.
Well todays show was a good one. Richard Searlings show featured the crew from Londons biggest little soul club These Old Shoes. The radio stars were Jo Wallace, Paul Thomas Peter and Martin Thomason. And what a great show they gave us, a classy varied mix of some great soul tunes, covering all aspects and styles. With worthwhile background info and a fai few laughs.

i really liked your site and would love to talk to you about the Northern scene. Were making a series for Channel 4 about UK soul and one of the programmes is focused on Northern Soul in the 70s and the its heyday at the Wigan Casino. We are particularly looking for great women to talk to so I wonder if you were Wigan regulars or if not perhaps you know other women who would be willing to help us with our

Legendary Soul singer, Betty Everett, passed away in her home in Beloit Wisconsin over the weekend. Her body was found by her family on Sunday.
Cause of death has yet to be determined.
Born in Greenwood Mississippi on November 23, 1939, Betty Everett is remembered primarily for one huge hit in the 60s, but she was also one of the very best soul singers and actually recorded many songs. Starting at age nine she played the piano and sang in church. She continued to sing in gospel choirs,

Ive just come across a copy of Wheelsville 104. Has anyone
ever seen this before - Debora Healy - "I Cant Erase My Old Loves Face"?
The other side is "Dont Do Nothing I Wouldnt Do"
Its the same as the issue on Chrysler, but with a different spelling for Debora and no credit to The Magic Tones.
The master numbers are MW 618 and MW 617.
Any info on Wheelsville 105?

Ronald McCoy - Come Back Boo
Keeping things up todate, have had sent in a sample of what Ronald McCoy (Ex-Topics) is up to nowadays.
Track showcased here is called Come Back Boo written by Ronald McCoy and Andrew Hamilton (song writer and article writer with articles featured in AMG , SKM, Soul Source and elsewhere)

"Had news from up North that on Sundays Jazz FM radio show, Richard Searling had a right go at Internet Soul Chat Groups, as someone had sent in some postings off one particular chat group, think words such as "need to get a life " "old woman" and similar were used before he threw the post in the bin! etc etc"
Unfortunately I dont get show down here, but was told that basically the way it come over was he tarred all lists with the same brush. I feel disappointed at this, because wher

The main thing that I like about the new format is that anyone can post up, you can
