I only saw him once (at the Upper Cut club in East London) but it was enough to convert me from general music lover to Soul Fan. So sad to hear this news. RIP Ben

The Drifters made some fantastic music with Ben on lead, and made some fantastic music as a solo artist.

A true legend of soul music.

RIP Ben.

A real legacy, left for us all to enjoy, he will be sadly missed, R.I.P  brother, as you said in song, WHAT MORE CAN A MAN DO  , In your case nothing more, deepest sympathy to family and friends. KTF and godbless.

I met him & Johnny Moore in the 80s after a gig at HMS Collingwood. I told him what my favourite track was and he said he loved it too. Very apt for today. RIP Ben.

Was in the Stefan Dee's Soul Lodge on Sunday chillin' and listening to local soul singer Cy Benson, spotted me singing (????) along to his current rendition and invited me up to join him on stage, yep, you've guessed it..........................Ben E Kings  " Stand By Me" ............................ then his sad demise, gone, but for me certainly not forgotten.

I can't break the news to myself, what an uplifting sound this is musically, one that I always enjoy hearing when out - it's what soul music is all about  :hatsoff2:

Spot on, every bone in his body was a loving one. Had time for everyone no matter what his schedule was or how late he was running. A legend that will be sadly missed.
