Dusty Sings Soul - Dusty Springfield - New Ace Records CD

Details of a new Cd from Ace Records

Dusty Sings Soul - Dusty Springfield - CDCHD 1612

Out this weekend Friday 25th March 2022

Release Notes clip

From the very start of her solo career, it was Dusty Springfield’s intention to make records in the style of the black American artists that she admired, both professionally and personally. She recorded her version of a soul song at her first solo session and was still recording soul songs on all of her albums, singles and EPs throughout the 60s and into the 70s.

“Dusty Sings Soul” is a long overdue and carefully curated collection of recordings from Dusty’s 60s singles and albums, designed to demonstrate that she was not only the UK’s finest female singer but also its finest soul singer of her era and, for many, of all time. There is no shortage of Dusty compilations out there, but this is the first one to exclusively concentrate on this particular side of this great artist’s work.

in Asda today

straight up?

never paid much attention to the cd dept in asda but would have thought a brand new ace release in asda on day of release a bit unusual?

It wasnt in my local asda, so ordered online. First CD I have purchased in years, shame it wasnt available on vinyl.

Tony said it may come out later in the year on vinyl once the issues with pressing plants have eased.

Pity didn’t include “ Don’t Say It Baby “ an overlooked B side to “Your Hurting Kinda Love “ from Feb 1965.

Thanks to your post Autumnstoned I just realised that there is another version of this by Linda Laine (not That one) and The Sinners using a different title.  Dusty's is better but this version is good.

Yep, not bad. Mark Wirtz of Teenage Opera and A Touch Of Velvet fame did a version too. I first came across it on a Dusty A’s & B’s CD. The clip is my 45 from my YouTube channel.
