George Jackson Lives!
Just when you thought it was all over…
Some of you may know that we have had to cancel several George Jackson
events at short notice in the last few months, due to the venue giving
priority to private bookings at the weekends.
This uncertainty meant that we were unable to promote the events
properly and as a result we felt that we were unable to continue with
After consultation with SMERSH bar, we can announce that we will return
in 2004 with a new midweek slot. Our new night will be held every third
Wednesday of the month, Starting on January 21st from 7.000 - 12.00
with no entry charge.
Together with “A New Chapter” on the first Wednesday of every month,
this means that there will be quality midweek soul at Smersh every
fortnight (or thereabouts).
In the past George Jackson! has sometimes been misrepresented as a
purely deep soul night, partly our own fault. As regulars will know we
have always endeavoured to play the full spectrum of tempos and styles
of soul music. If you don’t believe us, look at the sample playlist
