O'Jays - Brawl In Cellblock 99 Soundtrack - Out This Month

News about regarding an interesting soundtrack of a just released film.

The film is 'Brawl In Cellblock 99' which has just been released in the US,  the Uk film premiere is being held later this week in London

'Brawl In Cellblock 99'  stars Vince Vaughn who gets into all sorts of hassle after a drug deal goes wrong. It's from the same team who delivered the recent film 'Bone Tomahawk' and appears to be offering more of the same style, but with the bonus of a 70s Soul influenced soundtrack featuring the likes of Butch Tavares, Adi Amour and the O'Jays.
Seems to have had good reviews so far.

The director S. Craig Zahler who with Jeff Herriott also wrote the tracks had this to say

“I chose to compose soul songs for the film because no other type of music can rival the great works of soul in terms of spirit and emotive expressiveness. I saw the Spinners when they still had Bobby Smith, the Dells with the incomparable Marvin Junior still fronting them, the Stylistics, the Dramatics, the Delfonics, the Chi-Lites, the Isley Brothers, the immortal Bobby Womack, and (on multiple occasions) Tavares and the O’Jays. Styling these original soundtrack songs in the fashion of those written in the seventies was not just because I relish the heart and lush instrumentation of that era, but also because the lead character does not quite belong in a soft and synthetic modern day world.”

Have to say all looks and sounds entertaining
