"The" Weekenders in Feb/March

Heres a few bits of news thats all Monkey related. Know a lot of DMSC members went to both events last year and are looking forward to doing them both again. Prestatyn Weekender 28 FEB 2003 Well the buzz is buzzing even louder, recent going ons have just proved the fact that this one is an event run by soul fans for soul fans, advance bookings are continuing streaming in, flyers are out, and it looks like that this is going to be even better than last years one. If youre up for a weekend that has top of the range facilities, two main rooms - northern and modern plus a new addition - the room at the top - Mr Ms revival and spectaculars in the Old Vic, top live guests, and much much more and most importantly that is run by SOUL fans for SOUL fans. Well this is the place ......you all know the score! Llandudno Connoisseurs Weekend As all Monkey members who did this last year know, if youre into quality rare soul then get to this. Not a big full scale major event as above, but soul wise its a major quality event. Was a great friendly atmosphere. Check the line up out, and jump quick. A few words from the promoters - After the last successful weekender we quickly decided to run it again next year. In the spirit of co-operation, we checked with the Prestatyn Weekender promoters about dates, and sorted things out so that we werent running on the same dates. So, were going back to The Ormscliffe Hotel, on The Promenade, Llandudno, on the 7th, 8th, and 9th March, 2003. For those that werent there last year, the hotel is a three star hotel, with ensuite bathrooms in every room. The accommodation offered is either single, double, or twin bed rooms and due to the success of the last event we have been able to hold the prices the same as before. Therefore, the cost of the weekender is either £75.00 with Breakfast, or £65.00 without, per person. This is for accommodation on the Friday and Saturday nights. At the last weekender it was intended that we finished at 5.00 pm on the Sunday and all went home. What happened was that quite a lot of people booked with the hotel for an extra night, so the music actually finished at 3.30 am on the Monday morning. The downstairs room will again have a policy of Sixties rarities and unknowns, whilst upstairs will be a mixture of everything, This time, because we know we are going to using the upstairs lounge this year, it has also meant that the number of places for the weekender can be increased slightly. Both rooms have a bar, and relatively cheap drinks for a hotel, and very obliging bar hours. Our policy is still to have the best DJs in the country, playing the best records in the country. So far the DJs confirmed are as follows: Butch, Keith Money, Dave Rimmer, Roger Banks, Bob Hinsley, Andy Dyson, Chris Anderton, Derek Pearson, Chic, Cliff Steele, Stevie Z, John Weston, and John Mills. If you are interested, and want to reserve your place for this weekender, check out the booking form on the Soulful Kinda Music website and where to send your £15.00 deposit off. If you need any more information please ring either of us for a chat. John Mills: 01204 413973 Stevie Z: 0161 764 3995 Posted by admin on Jul 02, 2002 - 05:52 PM comments? | |
