BB King Rip

Just heard it on the news ,one of the greatest ,very sad 

RIP BB King

I suppose its Inevitable as we are all getting older that such great men will pass on but we seem to have lost so many an a short space of time.

RIP Sir a great great artist

Loved B.B. King  1st time i heard The Thrill is gone it blew me away,and always loved his version of To know you is to love you ,there was a great interview by  Alexis Corner in the seventies on BBC radio with B.B.  

A.C. and Colin Hodgkinson did a fantastic concert on channel 4 years ago and paid tribute to the blues including B.B.

Rest in peace and thank you 

Just Like his namesake Ben. E, an undeniable legend, got some of his stuff and I love it, thanks for an incredible contribution to soul/blues music over an incredible amount of time, the mark of a genuine legend. R.I.P. B.B

Sad day for the Blues.

Had the privilege of seeing BB King on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury in 2011.

Awesome.

No matter what the Genre, the Band or the Artist, pretty much all music can trace it's history back to the Blues, and 'BB' was one of it's finest exponents.

RIP the King.

One of the best records i've ever heard bar none - RIP to the King.

Another giant has passed, leaving an astonishing and enduring legacy.  We wont see his like again.

Saw him at Nottingham Rock City in the 80s, one of the memorable performances of my life, just a 1/3 full, laid back night. Brilliant musician, what a history.

R.I.P.  B. B. KING

Sad to hear.  One of my favourites (especially from 1949-55).  I saw him live at Dootone's Music Center in South Central L.A. in 1965, in Amsterdam in 1986, and in Kopenhagen in 1990.

Just received this B.B. King anecdote from Denis Wilcox the former lead singer of Elbowed-Out.

Good memories of meeting B.B. King.

In the late 70's,my band "Elbowed-Out" had the great privilege of opening for B.B. King at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle Washington.

We had finished our set,and I decided that I wanted to watch B.B. King's set from backstage. Soon, I'm standing in the wings as the band is getting set up and ready to go on.

I look up,and here comes B.B.,and he comes right up to me and starts telling me how he enjoyed our set. WOW! He has a big hamburger in one hand and a Coke in the other,and continues eating and drinking while we are talking.

 Then his  band starts playing,and the MC starts calling out,"People,are you ready?! Are you ready for the King?!" And B.B. says to me,"well,I gotta go now,can you take these for me"?, and he hands me his hamburger and Coke! Then he went out on stage while still chewing,and proceeded to show everyone just why he is called The King of The Blues.

I feel so lucky and honored to have touched with him.
