Event Information

North Lancs Soul Weekend May 29th 30th 31st

North Lancs Soul Festival in Morecambe

In 2006 The Solar Radio Sunday Soul Selection night out took place at The Crown Inn in Sponden Derbyshire and a cracking night it was too with over 100 attendees from all over the country.

To take the pressure off our favourite Sunday morning jocks we proposed the following idea

A weekend of "Sunday soul selection crossover gems, 60ss soul 70ss modern movers beered up monsters and mid tempo madness and some mecca/soulful dance spins well just about everything soulful you can imagine in the form of a soul weekend festival all to make it worth your while travelling up to sunny Lancashire weekend of 29th 30th 31st May 2009 after putting on weekends in 2007 and 2008.

The original idea was to see if it was worth everyone who expressed an interest in Sponden and would like to do some travelling to meet fellow soulies for a weekend of the best tunes the best beers and the best laughs with the emphasis firmly on fun but with our favourite music too. No egos(well we can but try lol) no moneymaking(reality) no squabbling over what music is played just all good fun sharing two venues all on the cheap.

Djs....We've already made a provisional list and that is now complete

Djs confirmed so far

Seaside Soul Collective Shaun Robbins Bob Smith Gary Johnson Kevin Oxberry Paul Collins Zane Hunter Terry Gee The Wakefield Crew The White Bull Crew Joes Bar Crew Andy Lett Pete Haigh Steve Naylor Steve Handbury Steve Edgar Brett Franklin Wayne Hemingway Ian Dewhirst George Reid

And more besides........

Despite the Credit Crunch It's a cheap weekend too up here in North Lancashire where the air is wonderful and the sunsets remarkable as all you need to fork out is your accommodation which I can research and find some cheap deals in Morecambe for you all for one, two or three nights depending on your preference. This isn't a weekender as we know it but something we can put together on the cheap joining up venues and tastes with different DJs and without too many if any restrictions

The York Hotel is fully booked up already but Mick has a contact with cheap accommodation in the resort but ill post up some links. Ill be contacting those shortly who have rooms reserved at the york

Again we don't want to run packages as everyone will want to do their own thing in their own time and we will be putting links on our website in the coming weeks for everyone

Here is an early itinery planned out which can change and I hope you will find this to your liking:
