AD-LIB 6TS SOUL/R&B CLUB LINCOLN on
This event is now over
Ad-Lib 6t's Soul/R&B Club,Lincoln
"Back to the Roots"
Unison Cellar Bar,Beaumont Fee,Lincoln LN1 1EZ
Saturday 27th March 2010 7pm- 12.00 (usually allowed to play on 'til 12.15)
The venue is a proper thick-walled cellar with a separate lounge bar.It is licensed for 120 people and is set under an imposing Victorian manor house (see picture below)) close to the city centres Brayford Pool entertainment zone and has a council car park adjoining it..It oozes atmosphere and is the type of place frequented by the 6ts Mods/Soul Boys and Girls who helped develope the underground soul/r&b scene
Our "Back to the Roots" nights allow the Ad-Lib djs to play a whole range of music that wouldn't have been out of place on the original all-nighter scene. We aim to include everyone musically into our night so you'll hear rare, underplayed, lesser known soul/r&b interspersed with great club soul, motown, mod even a little ska if the crowd are ready to party!
To add to the atmosphere we are hoping to project images onto the cellar-. bar wall. These won't be of the clear screen variety (you may as well stay in and look at the tv!!) but more of an impression of movement from early artists etc. This shouldn't detract anyone from hitting the dance-floor and concentrating on the music.
The Ad-Lib djs all bring something a little different to the decks so their sets keep the night interesting and stops our events becoming "nostalgic".This is no way another "oldies"night as a lot of tracks will be new to a lot of people deeper into the scene than others. Those newer to the scene will also hear great uptempo tracks that will encourage them to hit the dance-floor !
Djs for the night:
Dave Woolley (tbc)
Martin/Trevor (Lincoln Imps)
