GETTING TOGETHER @ THE THUNDERBOLT, BRISTOL on
This event is now over
Getting Together Presents Northern Soul @ The Thunderbolt, 124 Bath Road, Totterdown, Bristol, BS4 3ED
Saturday October 23rd 2010
8pm 'til Midnight
Getting Together make a welcome return to The Thunderbolt for another night of finest upbeat 60s Northern Soul - with a smattering of 70s, Motown, R'n'B and crossover - provided by our residents Ian Williams and Rocker.
As usual we also have a special guest DJ - we are very pleased to welcome back Sean Chapman - Sean needs no introduction to anyone who has caught his sets at Soul In The South or the Kings Hall Stoke-on-Trent all-nighters. For us he'll be playing a dancefloor friendly set grounded in classic Northern - but expect a few surprises - there's always room for a bit of 70s, something mod, or even a bit of ska. And be warned - we have no doubt that Sean will be bringing along some sales boxes too.
The Thunderbolt (formerly The Turnpike Inn) is South Bristol's finest music venue, situated on the Bath Road, 300 yards South of the Three Lamps junction. A friendly, intimate pub-sized venue with an excellent real ale bar at pub prices and of course a dancefloor. There's also a landscaped beer garden out back.
Parking is readily available in the streets behind the venue, and there's a regular bus service to / from the city centre 'til 11.45pm. It's a ten-minute walk from Temple Meads station.
Entry is still a recession-busting £3, we'll be playing from 8pm 'til at least midnight.
Since space is limited we recommend you get there early to guarantee admission!
We'll be spinning original soul vinyl. You'll be expected to dance!
Sales boxes welcome! (Just ask Ian or Rocker)
