Getting Together Presents Northern Soul @ The Thunderbolt, 124 Bath Road, Totterdown, Bristol, BS4 3ED
Saturday November 27th 2010
8pm 'til Midnight
Getting Together return to our favourite venue The Thunderbolt for another night of finest upbeat 60s Northern Soul - with a smattering of 70s, Motown, R'n'B and crossover - provided by our residents Ian Williams and Rocker.
As usual we also have a special guest DJ - and we are very pleased to welcome back John Stapleton - one of Bristol's best-known and longest-standing DJs and vinyl addicts. You may remember him from his early days playing soul vinyl at one of Bristol's classic venues, the Western Star Domino Club, in the early '80s - and you may well know him from his current monthly soul night Go Go Children. John is also well known for his hip-hop, his breakbeat, and his 60s psych sets - and is a former Blue Aeroplane - he also runs the Dope On Plastic record label, not to mention Bristol's biggest regular club night Blowpop. He also runs "Wanted Records" - A fine all-vinyl record shop in St Nicholas Market which recently celebrated it's first birthday. For us once again he's gonna peel back the years and play an all-vinyl soul set!
The Thunderbolt is South Bristol's finest music venue, situated on the Bath Road, 300 yards South of the Three Lamps junction. A friendly, intimate pub-sized venue with an excellent real ale bar at pub prices and of course a dancefloor. There's also a landscaped beer garden out back.
Parking is readily available in the streets behind the venue, and there's a regular bus service to / from the city centre 'til 11.45pm. It's a ten-minute walk from Temple Meads station.
Entry is still a recession-busting £3, we'll be playing from 8pm 'til at least midnight.
Since space is limited we recommend you get there early to guarantee admission!
We'll be spinning original soul vinyl. You'll be expected to dance!
Sales boxes welcome! (Just ask Ian or Rocker)
