◊◊◊ HOT BUTTERED SOUL ◊◊◊ on
Hot Buttered Soul will once again be droppin' 70s & 80s Funk, underground Disco & Boogie treats, and funky, feelgood soul from across the decades. Hand picking the best sounds from across the spectrum of black music, both old and new. Spinning only original vinyl for that 'authentic' sound and feel.
We're excited about our 3rd Friday-of-the-month residency at Bristol's Bank of Stokes Croft, don't miss out, the last few gigs been been wild!
This month we are joined by our good friends and special guests Jamie C & Alena from London's 'Bump'.
Both certified vinyl diggers and at the top of their game, they spin records with an eye for the dancefloor, so expect only the very best (and sometimes super-rare) 45s to excite & delight, we guarantee when the music hits you you'll feel no pain!
Like many, Jamie got caught up in the 80s hip hop boom tracking down the break tunes used, eventually realising the variety of songs used were the pull not hip hop. This epiphany led to involvement in many nights, usually with a very open music policy, playing street funk, disco, hip hop back in the day. This open minded music policy still remains, preferring to cherry pick from different 'scenes' rather than get involved with one - you can hear just about any black music from about 1950 onwards at his Bump nights, as long as its danceable.
Bump's other resident Alena brings some well needed feminine charm to the proceedings. An exceptional dancer, by trade in fact, she gets the floor moving with a mixture of 80s boogie, 70s funky soul and obscure disco.
This one will be off the hook people, get Friday 18th March at The Bank of Stokes Croft in your diary.
