I'm looking forward to the all dayer at my favourite club. I know I'll hear good music and be in good company. Eileen will be accompanying me, she's looking forward to her second visit.

Looking forward to another quality soul session with some of my favourite people..... it seems like forever since the last one.....like all things special, they just don't come around fast enough.

Hope the bar's stocked up on Heck for me and Chalky.

The Canal Tavern are wonderful at looking after the Boomerang crowd at the bar, we love them for it!

Looks like a busy one is brewing with lots of new faces mentioning their virgin outing. We really want everyone to have fun, so a gentle reminder that Boomerang is a SOUL night (not a traditional NS night). Please visit our website for playlists and an idea of what you may hear from the dj's. We feature 60s & 70s soul with a quirky personal style thrown in, all from the heart:

Hi All,

Well, I have had phone calls a plenty from home and abroad, queries have been answered and hotels booked.:))

The usual minibus will be in attendance to pick up at the end, and I shall around to 'lend a hand' to anyone who needs it to 'get on board'. ;)

House keeping bits for the day are well in hand,

So all to do now is look forward to a great day with friends we know and those we have yet to meet.

See you there,

Love Karen xxx

It was 4 months since the last Boomerang and it's 3 months until the next one if you miss Saturday.

Sam turns 71 years old on Friday and is still going strong - and bet he'll be hauling in the equipment like a fresh young strapping lad as usual too.. he's such a gentleman to all us ladies!

* DJ roster for Saturday 11th August is * :

4:00 pm - Soul Sam (60 min) /

5:00 pm - Maria O (60 min) /

6:00 pm - Arthur Fenn (60 min) /

7:00 pm - Cliff Steele (60 min) /

8:00 pm - Maria O (75 min) /

9:15 pm - Arthur Fenn (75 min) /

10:30 pm - Cliff Steele (75 min) /

11:45 pm - Soul Sam (75 min) /

* 1am - close * /

...and every August since we started, the Boomerang crowd sing for Sam. Bit lower key this year, but there may even be a little cake.

Should I be writing a review at this time ?

Course I should.

Just got in and reflecting on a great evening.

Good company and some of the best soul tunes on the planet.

Well done to all involved.

So pleased you had a good time Gav,

On reflection I feel somewhat overwhelmed by the support we got yesterday,

Thank you all so much for coming, many of you travelling very long distances, Dorset,Southampton, London,Cheltenham, Brighouse,MiltonKeynes,Northampton,Manchester,

Goole,Louth, and all the 'Armada' from Espanol and many other places...............together with locals all to gather in the back room of a boozer in

Yorkshire.:)

Quality Soul Music has been on our fliers since day one and that is exactly why so much care goes into selecting the guest DJ's,

Cliff Steele played some wonderful tracks his second spot was packed full of some of the best current niter sounds around, he even threw in

the original ('62 I think) version of 'whose that lady' which Mike from Cheltenham told me is one of his favourites.

Arthur Fenn, two spots of inspirational rare soul delivered with a relaxed style, he should turn professional ;)

Soul Sam, this man is by far the most enthusiastic deliverer of music to the soul scene we have, he thrives off the smiles of

the people listening to his sets and yesterdays last spot, which was put on hold for a couple of minutes to sing happy birthday to him,

had a lovely party end feel.

Maria O, some of my all time favourite seventies in the first spot then a change of tack for the second, Its A Womans World was an inspired choice.

I have not mentioned many records but there will hopefully be playlists coming.

I hope to see you all again in November when our Guests will be Dave Rippolles and Dave Greet (Greety)

Thats no good at all Chalky :(

However, there could be an opportunity in this, maybe we could hook up a live feed to your mobile of the Tavern, send you over a flask of

Great Heck and a tupperware box of BUNs so you can still get that 'Boomerang' fix :)

Sorry for late comments, put it down to my general inefficiency and debility due to the hot weather.

The all dayer was excellent, helped by decent weather enabling people to use the Canal Tavern gardens early in the proceedings. The downer for me was that my partner Eileen wasn't well and thus unable to travel up to Thorne. But despite this I had a great time.

The dance floor took a little time to get properly going but once it filled it stayed that way. The two special guests, Cliff Steele and Soul Sam, did the business and Arthur and Maria made their contribution to the mix.

Roll on the next one in November.
