Cream Cracker Soul Club 7th Anniversary on

This event is now over

Ok I know its another venue change,my apologies for that, but the one at Burton Latimer was getting unsustainable for many reasons. Having spent many hours trying to find a venue for the Cream Cracker with all the attributes required. Karen, thankfully has found a real belter for us to hopefully settle in. The venue is tucked away behind some residential homes on Rockingham Road in Corby Northants. There is a massive carpark surrounding the complex. The toilets are clean and large so no queueing. The hall itself is a geat big un with a marvellous sprung wooden floor that has had many many years of dancing upon it so its good and slippy, with a carpeted area around it for adequate tables and chairs. The entry corridor is very well lit, wide and more than spacious enough for sellers. There is a bar area adjacent to the main hall, seperated by a windowed and doored wall which is decked out with tables and chairs. The venue has speakers mounted in each corner of the main hall and once I have mastered how to connect them up to my existing equipment it'll no doubt enhance the listening and dancing pleasure. I have managed to keep the hire cost down and procure a 2.30am finish with the bar till 2am, so entry will still only be £5, which has hopefully got to be good value for money. The nights will run from 8pm to 2.30am so for the same entry amount we're getting and an extra 30 minutes dancing, which also means we can probably get another guest on each night. The beer prices are £2.70 for bitter and £2.90 for lager which aint bad compared to many other places. The main room with all lights out is perfect for dancing as the lights from the bar area cast just enough light through the windows to set the mood without impeaching.

The Elizabeth Hotel is just up the road from the venue and I am going to meet with the management there to obtain a discounted price for rooms for anyone travelling.

I promise this is the last move for The Cream Cracker, In all honesty I wish I'd moved to this one when The Football Club in Rothwell went bust.

But at the end of the day its up to the Jacobs, I'll put everything in place and hopefully we can continue with the Cream Cracker Soul Club. No change on the music format.

Regards

Kev ( dont do modern) Such and Karen.

Thanks for putting flyers out Mick. Ok it'll probably be done then, because you have got some nice tunes that go down well with the Jacobs, as long as you stick to the format ok?

I will take some photos when I next go over and post them up.

CD's are done, and I visited the venue last week and alls still in place. The manager asked me about drug usage as he'd heard it was part of the Northern soul scene, I of course said "dont be so daft". I think he must have watched The Soul Boy movie on BBC2 the other week and panicked, bless him.

Anyway alls in place and if you are planning on staying overnight call the Best western Hotel in Corby mention Cream Cracker and you'll get a discounted price.

See you all at Skeggy.

Ey up Kev!! loving the Freemasons Masonic symbol on the floor.......oh err mrs.

Daz.

Great aint it? Dont stand on it though as I think it probably opens up and turns into an Indiana Jones style adventure looking for Aztec gold or something.

Have spoken to The Best western Hotel, which is at the top of Rockingham Rd in Corby. After much talking and cups of coffee ( nah not really, they agreed straight away). Anyone wishing to stop over for The Cream Cracker should ring 01536 401348 and mention Cream Cracker Soul Club and they will give you a discount on any bookings.

1 month to go till we have our 7th Anniversary at this great venue, 6 1/2 hours of music for £5, cant be bad eh?

Wahoo!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats the working week over with.

Will be going over about 1pm to set up the equipment. I will park my van ( with me name on it, otherwise it'd be pointless) inside the entrance to the venue so It'll be easily noticed where to turn off from the main road.

Looking forward to seeing everyone, the DJ's have all confirmed and are raring to get started at our first night, but 7th Anniversary at The Cream Cracker.

Rather intrigued to see what you're bringing Claire.

Safe trip everyone and see you tomorrow.

Anniversary cd to the 1st 100 in.

As Nige says a super venue, clinically clean entrance & hall way leading into a big chillout bar with loads of seating and reasonable drink prices, now for the engine room! two sets of doors take you onto the great dance floor, DJ positon is far better than Burton Lattimer that gives the room that all important atmosphere and a sense of belonging rather than a temp stage on one side of the dance floor, if i have one criticism the light that shines from the stage onto the dance floor need dimming down or turning of but thats nitpicking, Well done Karen & Kev fantastic venue find.

As we always do we enjoyed the night thoroughly. All the DJ's up to 12.45 (we left due to me driving!!) played very nice sets & on the whole keeping the dance floor ticking over nicely, Lovley to catch up with Craig & Jane, Tom & Therese, Paul Royle & a few more but ive slept since!!!

See you all in March.

Steve & Claire
