Many thanks to you all for last night, did worry that as it was Easter weekend we would take a hit on numbers but by 1am we had filled up nicely and they kept coming through the door up untill 4am.
Massive thanks to all the DJ's, Dave, Kev, Roger and Coop's for their Skegness Weekender Showase they really did deliver a flavour of what Dave & Donna's April 26th to 28th Skegness Weekender is all about.
Big thanks to Nige Brown who I think enjoyed himself as he was still there at 6.45 as I was getting things togeather to leave, means a lot when I see DJ's turn up a good few hours before their set and are still around at the end, it speaks volumes. Another massive thanks for Dave Shaw stepping in at the last minute, top man, all we asked of the aboved mentioned DJ's is they get people dancing and they all did that, thanks guys.
The second room was bouncing all night with Sean Haydon, Eddie Hubbard, Chris Latham and Paul Shirley playing a mix of funky, under played and uptempo 60's/70's dance music, along with Bob Hinsley New Century's man for all seasons had the room rocking.
Steve Woomble, Sam and Ed DB have gave us a blend of kicking soulful house and modern soul which had Imber Boy grinning like a Cheshire cat, which has now giving us food for thought, we will have to get back to you on that one.
Finally a big thanks to our other residents Hoss, Andy Garside and Andy Dyson, Jimmy Buff and Denise, for all your hard work.
so until our next 'Soulful Gathering' thank you all for coming along
Best
Chris W and the absent Marcelle (MIA at Prestatyn alldayer)

Had a great night, our intention was to get in early around 21.15 ish and leave early due to an early start on the Sunday, well it didn't quite work out that way getting away around 5 under protest !

Many thanks to all, the music was top notch, many top underplayed tunes, well done the DJs

And the early start on the Sunday, errrrrr we was late !

Not sure how to revue Radcliffe on Saturday Night without sounding like a sycophant but I will endeavour to give my own personal view on what is my favourite Allnighter in the country.

Every Nighter, one would hope, gives its own flavour and some stick to the formula which is great and the punter easily falls into their demographic, there are other immeasurable factors that come into play and it is here where I think Radcliffe tops the lot, first up is the punter, dare I say at the apex of the Allnighter Crowd, big call that one but I will stand by my words, the crowd are not easily duped they are not snobs but they will dance as long as the spirit it there and the genuine will to give danceable soul.

We are wading towards murky waters here because those things I mention and will mention are not easily manufactured and they just sort of happen, the DJ’s raise their game and I don’t mean by playing the obscure to clear the floor nor do I mean playing the easy play, there is a real desire to give the best and this is self-generating as the dance floor wills it.

The Main Room is getting better and better with different DJ’s each time keeping things fresh and exciting, there is a familiar feel to the main room and that is a good thing but you do get rare and underplayed Northernsoul that is real and not some broken promise that is usually found on every flyer you see.

The second room “Room Two”, well for me this is just a joy, granted not for everyone but gone are the beard strokers and the room is alive and bouncing rather than a dark uninviting gloomy place that it once was, sorry and a million kisses to those who have injected the life spark back into there as on Saturday Night it was a firework display of joy! The DJ’s were both nervous and enthusiastic and I haven’t seen that sine dare I say………………… Middleton.

If I was to say Radcliffe in one word that word would be “Inspiring”

I often wondered what Radders was like,,???

And now I now,,,,i have now been twice once as a punter and now punter/DJ,,,

I personally cant fault a thing,,, its of today!,,, great facilities,, well run,,, and nice to see the Main Promoter Chis flitting from room to room watching and mingling with his punters ,,,

I have a on going joke with Dave Rivers about how long I stay at an All Nighter these days,,, I will admit I don't always stay till they end but after all these years I aint got nothing to prove and I have to think of my health too  and I will say I never leave a venue Straight from doing my set as I think its very rude ,,,,, but fook me it was 6-45 am before I knew it,,,

So did I enjoy it,,,,, Too Right I Did!!  ,,,

Great Venue ,, Great People,, Great Nighter,,, Appreciate my invite!!

Back home (south of Bristol) and recovered.  Enjoyed Nige’s set in the main, and all main room sets dropping classic gems throughout the night.

Second room for me though was a real eye opener: Kings of Soul, Contacts, Vondells, Willie West, Charles Simmons (Bamberg anthem!) kept me coming back in.  Lovely underplayed by Eddie H., and winding off nicely was Chris Latham’s spot; finishing on a great mix of Marvin Gaye’s — What’s Going On; a perfect soul record to end the set/ allnighter on.  Makes you think how much magnificent soulful music exists you hardly ever hear out.

Bit late to add something this , but I set off with the intention of spending the night in the second smaller room as there wer one or two names whose sets I hadn't had the chance to hear. steve woomble and paul Shirley , Like I once told some old football club team mates that id love to joinem for a veeterans tournament in Antwerp , as id never been to Belgium before. Till we arrived and the penny dropped. So it was on Saturday. the sets from both of these gave me the kind of surge of enthusiasm for those who were to follow that I congratulated myself somewhat prematurely that my choice to remain in room two was the right one. The trouble was I left and never went back in there for the remainder of the night.I can only propose the reason for this was I didn't need to .I sat, through one or two tunes only because I had danced myself to a standstill. then dragged my tired legs up again because it  was fun in the big room..The main room at Radcliffe hasn't always kept my attention , but a mixture of mates to have a good talk with, mainly about the sad absences of some who wont be returning, and attention grabbing tunes to lift you out of your seat made leaving there just too much hard work..So I congratulated myself on my lack of curiosity ,especially as remaining was so well rewarded by those who were asked to facilitate it. I cant remember when I last enoyed an allnighter so much,Actually I can, it was about two weeks ago at Radcliffe.......
