Northern Soul Allnighter Stoke on

This event is now over

What's this....a full blown Northern Allnighter at Bidds.

Have the lunatics taken over the asylum!

Well here it is......Oldies, Indemanders, Current & Classic Floorpackers.

Will it work...probably so...that's a pretty good line-up of DJs if I do say so myself.

After constantly pushing the limits with the music policy at this venue for the last 6 years,

I've finally decided to put it to the test, and run an out and out Northern Nighter.

I was gonna try and give it a fancy name, but couldn't be arsed

This thread is far to quiet at the moment. Let's start making some noise.

Don't tell me that only Port Vale fans in the Potteries are in to Northern, surely there's a few happy go lucky City fans about !!!

All this talk of ducks reminds me of the time I kept calling a waitress 'duck' at a Chinese Buffet in Times Square a few years back....Beggsy had to tell me stop it cus she looked totally bewildered, not to mention that she kept directing me to the crispy duck....bless.

A week on saturday folks.....tippety top DJ line up and quality tunes all the way in a venue you'll never forget (for all sorts of reasons...!)

Honestly...where else could you possibly want to be.......?

Hi Mace

Thanks for your overwhelming hospitality as always

I mean't to ask for a pint of "Creme De Menthe" but then remembered that Bidds ain't renowned for it's cocktails. You have to venture into bogs to find things that get shaken and stirred at this venue :wicked:

Hi Andy, I thought Joseph Webster was an oldie and certainly a classic and a floorpacker in my book.

Music is exactly what Mace advertised,

Oldies, Indemanders, Current & Classic Floorpackers.

I'll be digging out some of the old Droylsden and Tony's Empress Ballroom oldies along with some of today's current spins.

I'm sure Dave Evison will be spinning his normal Torch - Casino spot.

Also to anyone thinking of travelling it's only £10 to get it in with free parking right outside the door.

I first heard Joseph Webster albeit the intrumental version at Notts Palais in 1978 Andy (then missed it of a list for £20.00) if any one moans send 'em to me I'll bore 'em to death explaining why it's an oldie.

Play what the fcuk you all want to as long as it packs the floor!

My 'oldies' collection go back to 1954 but rest assured I'm gonna leave them ones at home!

Seriously, just great Northern Soul dancers all night, whether they were big at the Wheel, Torch, Wigan, Stafford, Keele etc, or present day....and feel free to 'cock wave' as much as you all want regards rarity, as long as the dancers appreciate it!

Hi ya Mace & Tony

Myself and Louise really enjoyed last night, I even managed to use the imfamous Bidds Bogs on several occassions without out getting the turn -ups on my Jeans wet.

The only downside was that I brought a piece of the Bidds carpark home with me, which left a trail of left footed, foot prints all over our hall, stairs and landing carpet. Any chance of some duck boards at the next one?

Oh and I told Louise to give you guys the cleaning bill. :wicked:

Keep up the goodwork

I see your one of those unfortunate people in life Ted who when they tread in a pile of dog sh*t always manage to get it on both shoes.

P.S Someone had to get the car keys out of my pocket, so if you had the choice of Mick H or Louise which one would choose ?

Yup, t'was a great night all round....numbers were well up and dancefloor was busy all night......all the DJs played a great mix of Northern, from quality oldies to current indemanders.

Lot's of positive comments from first timers as well as Bidds regulars......seems to be the way forward if the nighters at Bidds are to continue.

Many thanks to everyone who supported us, and to the DJs, doorstaff and especially Tony Foster who has helped push this event with a passion.

Hopefully gonna do a couple more later in the year, and I'm quite confident that we can establish this event as a key allnighter on the Northern Scene.

Regards

Mace

Hi Dave, Ant has asked if you can return said piece of carpark on your next visit.....funds are low and he can't afford to fill all the potholes in the carpark as is....!

Well...that was a GREAT first 'northern soul allnighter' ...wasn't gonna stop long because of man flu ....hahaha another walk of shame at the'crack of dawn' ensued....

Well done Mace and Tony and others who helped with this---really was a great night...Music was spot on and as was said before---a bit of something for everyone. All the DJ's pitched it just right for the night (special mention for Evo--who can pull out a nighter set that still fills the floor..nice one!)

...got a few first timers up as well ..who were mighty impressed......so

Great job lads and lasses---look forward to another....

Have to say guys, you seemed to do the impossible on this night, that is keep both the chinstrokers and the dancefloor happy with top quality music that maintained a high bar, without comprising, while keeping the floor full allnight, cant wait for the back end, when I'm sure Bidds will return mightier than ever!
