Having Colin flyering for this was not perhaps the best idea as he was only giving them to people he likes...

I got my "special invitation" and as promised I will really try to get along for the weekend - just have to wait a bit before I can book (M's about to be sent working away again, and so we need to find out where and how long for) - and I will need to rope in a carer of the sensible variety, as thanks to my poorly eyes I need looking after a bit to make sure I don't get lost/ fall over unintentionally/ know where I am etc. Any volunteers should apply in writing...

My dear Madam,

Please find herewith our formal written application in respect of the posts of joint sensible carers, as advertised on the internet. We are of course medically trained and accustomed to playing nursemaid indoors. We will endeavour to provide firm yet sympathetic supervision during your foray north of the border, and will not hesitate to offer sincere advice should your outfit and accessories clash or if your make-up choices inadvertently send you into that awkward transgender territory. Whilst not blessed with perfect vision ourselves, we feel that we likely have the equivalent of one composite 'good' eye between us with which to observe the Pictish hordes in the event they are at any time revolting and need to be suppressed. We have extensive experience of assisting the temporarily confused and those with decreased mobility due to over-consumption of drinks with Irn-Bru mixers.

Assuring you of our best attention at all times.

Seems I'm the only laggard out of our mob who hasn't booked a room for this. Looks to me like the event of the year so I'll best get my arse in gear.

Look at that line up :)

Allenton reunion too for all the Ruff Cut reprobates ( wonder if they'll have a backstage room like Shotts... )

With all these English folk heading north of the border, I hope you poor Scots dont think it's an invasion we don't want the ghost of William Wallace haunting the corridors of the Hydro late at night.

OMG what is that errie noise is it a ghost nah! just Frazer Dunn struggling to open the lift doors once the bars shut!!

:wicked:

We will do what we always did to repel Southern marauders, tell them its their round, They always seemed to go home to think again after that.

Although Louise does drink like a Scot, so she will be welcome in the gang!

I haven't either Mr B, in fact card at ready to do it this morning, once finished my champers and canapes for brekkers.

Hope you are good, starting to really look forward to this now, beautiful surroundings, good music and a spa that will even hold the extended bellies that will be on show, one of the best wine and beer off licences in Scotland a 5 minute walk away (lets not tell the hotel that one) what more could you want.

And for the Athletes like Mr Byrne a nice mountain biking run just 10 minutes away that they can do a few laps of when we are "sleeping" off the exertions.

And for those scared of being Scotticised, you will find more English in Peebles than Scots, as like the Whitmores from the West they came, they saw and they realised just how much nicer we are and our lovely towns are, and they stayed. It might be you.....

Oh and the music, A German, An International Stokie (probably not many you can say that about) and A Dutch/Italian heading the line up, all known for something different and not following the party line and all much easier to understand than the Scots supporting line up, but all something to give.

And if thats not enough I believe Butch has said if Andy W buys a drink he will buy 2, probably not enough to get drunk but its a start.......

Be there or be sorry!

oh so true Jock

I something times break down and weep uncontrolably when I think of all those records that I could have bought, if I hadn't had to keep picking up Louise's unpaid bar tabs ! :(

All you need now is Natalie Steele and Julia Kitchener to come and on the strength of the bar sales of these three alone the reccession albeit in Scotland will be soon be gone :wicked:

By Jove Jock, thanks for prompting me to get my derriere into gear  You have succeeded where Phyllis's early warnings last year, & Colin shoving it under my nose at the Wilton (the flyer!! he's not that generous to shove anything else under my nose  ) failed, and I've only gone & booked my room this morning !!

Very plush hotel, not sure it will stay that way :wicked:

Get it booked now!!

Ali

Disclaimer: the part in brackets was written in good fun, I am a good girl really  & Colin is still a tight git :D

Any flyer with the George Scott LP cover on it is gonna grab my attention, everything else added, looks a great do, plus reminder of some crazy times up there at Shotts, will try and rustle a squad for this

I just started to plan my trip down to scotland and it looks like flights are quite pricy from Hamburg to Edinburgh. So, is anybody from one of the bigger cities (Manchester, B'ham, etc.) coming by car and would be able to give me and my girl a lift? Gasmoney, endless pints (did I really wrote that?) and heavy snoring on the back seats are part of the deal. Holler at me via pm please...

Really really looking forward to this!

David, dress policy is collar and no jeans, so you will need to wear at least a collar. I believe there are a few no longer required in an Edinburgh Cathedral at the moment, so probably get them cheap.

I better not tell you about the PM's flying around saying its more likely to be your customers going around naked as you have taken the shirt off their back for your records. I did point out you have Louise's drinking habit to support so should be shown some sympathy.

Good reminder, I had actually forgotten after all that and just booked now, after all the reminders I was giving out!

Yes Colin has a record for shoving it under peoples noses, proves the saying its not something to be sniffed at isn't always right!!

Lars not sure how feasible but we have looked into flying to Bremen with Ryanair and getting train across to Hamburg before as direct flights are expensive and its festival time in Edinburgh so flights are always expensive in. Have a look and see what you think, more than welcome to bunk up with us in Edinburgh for flights.

Look forward to catching up, although hopefully see you in Bamberg first.

Have no fear Jamesy

The formidable Mrs Suzanne McWhitmore has pointed out the follies of my natural tendencies to strutt around naked in the frozen North and has very kindly loaned me one of her Andy's old scarves to use as a loin cloth.

Yes after she uttered "put this on quick you pervy little twat before I dig the 6" heel of mi' Kurt Geiger's in ya foot"

how could i refuse ! :sweatingbullets: :sweatingbullets: :sweatingbullets:

And as for my record prices being resposible for taking people's shirts off their backs! well, let's wait and see if Frazer brakes the dress code by turning up in nowt but a string vest!!!! :wicked:

:g: Mind you the string vest look may enhance Frazer's popularity with English and European autograph hunters who may mistakenly take him for Rab C. Nesbit

A very soon to be dead Dave

Thanks for the heads up Jock, see you definitely in Bamberg. The only problem with Ryanair is, that they are a nightmare when it comes to transporting records as handluggage - at least that's what I've been told. Anyway, I will make it to scotland even if I have to walk....

I hear there's a golf club near by Russ so if you do attend and become homesick for your foxhole in Bagdad you can always pitch your tent in the sand bunker!! (at this point can some Dj spin the Delcos "Arabia") Just a tip but when you go to sleep just keep one eye open for Jocko driving his golf convertable (buggy) he's not fussy who he runs over just ask Andy Whitmore he's still got the tyre marks on the back of his neck to prove it! :wicked:
