Great Big Kiss in London on
This event is now over
It's Great Big Kiss at the Buffalo Bar again this Friday. Our guest DJ this month is Lucienne Cole, who's DJ-ed for us several times now, and always turns in a cracking selection of 60s girl groups and northern soul. In the early doors spot, Simon Rowe will be playing northern soul and rock'n'roll, and I'll be pitching in with a few hip-shakers and foot-stompers too.
Admission is the usual price of £4 for members and £6 for members on the door, and £6 in advance. You can pick up an advance ticket here - http://www.wegottickets.com/event/225061
As usual, I've been scouring record shops, boot fairs and ebay for new gems to play at the club, and I've picked up a bunch of records that I'm itching to spin on Friday. My pick of the crop are as follows:
The Poppies, "There's A Pain In My Heart" - sweet sweet northern soul and an utter classic
Eddie Gaines, "Be-Bop Battlin' Ball" - super infectious 50s rockabilly from Kentucky.
Photos of last month's GBK are here. This was one of my favourite GBKs yet, just a wonderful, wonderful night, full of good cheer and fine people. Looking forward to more of the same on Friday.
