Double O Soul

Morley Sunday Soul

Event Information

Morley Sunday Soul

Serving up a large portion of Northern with a small slice of Mecca Soul on the side, first Sunday afternoon of every month.

Resident DJ: Steve C

3:00 pm till 7:00 pm, door tax free.

Lovely pub with reasonable beer prices, plenty of parking, outside seating for sunny afternoons, and handy for motor ways.

The music features Northern Soul including original and modern, Crossover and R&B. It also includes Mecca Soul (Motown, Stax, Invictus, Island etc..)

Half hour Open Deck sessions available most month, but book early to avoid disapointment.

At the event, we play vinyl only. As 7" records in quality can weigh a considerable amount, it isn't possible to have every record guests might ask for. Each DJ might drag as many as 200 singles backwards and forwards to each event. So why don't you give us a heads up of what you might like to hear by making a post below. We'll do what we can to ensure it's there at the soul session

So an afternoon of banter and chat listening to some great soulful sounds and quaffing a few lemonades. (Hand pulled beers are available ;-))

Tony and his partner, Edith, will give you a friendly welcome and it will be great to see you there.

Went to the last one and it was a very, very enjoyable afternoon in a pub, a proper, proper purpose built vintage Yorkshire pub, with like minded Soulies listening to marvelous across the board underplayed tunes played by knowledgeable DJ's and talking and looking at records!!!!! Could't be better!!! There's no dance floor but that didn't deter peaple just made it more like a party!!!!! Highly recommended. Give it a go you won't be disappointed, Thoroughly enjoyed it and will be attending the next event

What a pleasure it is to play to such an appreciative audience.

Craig Robinson from the The Red Bar, 100% Soul thrilled with a Modern set, while Andy Carling created a totally different mood with rare and underplay Northern soul and R&B. Our appreciation to both.

So many smiling faces in the room and everybody wants to come back next month, which by the way will be an hour longer. We will be starting at 14:30 and running until 19:30 to accomodate the crowds. Thanks.

I LOVE this venue such a chilled and laid back atmosphere, nice people and great beer in a traditional English pub atmosphere. I had the opportunity to play a few tunes that have lingered at the back of my playbox for far too long as well as some newly acquired material.
I enjoyed the dj'ing, I enjoyed the company and I also enjoyed the Leeds pale ale.

So many thanks to Steve for having me over, i'll be back again hoprfully the 1st December in a listening capacity.

See you again soon.

Andy
