Formed in 2009 by former Backscratcher and Swing Commander Dec Sanderson, Rambunkshus are dedicated to the Soul, Rhythm and Blues, and Funk of 1960s urban America. They capture the sound, essence and spirit of the music of Detroit, Memphis, Chicago and New York during that incredibly musically significant and productive decade.
Heavily influenced by Motown’s legendary Funk Brothers, Booker T. and the MGs, The Memphis Horns, Willie Mitchell, James Brown’s Famous Flames, Ray Charles, Junior Walker and Louis Jordan, Rambunkshus, with their seven-piece line-up of Rhythm and Blues, Soul and Funk aficionados, are producing arguably the most authentic 60s Soul and Rhythm and Blues show this side of the Atlantic.
When you see and hear Rambunkshus live, you can easily imagine yourself in a Detroit basement studio, at a Chicago blues bar, strolling down Beale Street, Memphis; or even enjoying a Rhythm and Blues review at the Apollo Theatre, New York.
Rambunctious: Boisterous, energetic, exuberant

Equally, you could imagine yourself at, or reminisce about, great British Northern Soul clubs, such as Manchester’s Twisted Wheel, Wigan Casino, Blackpool Mecca, or The Torch in Stoke. To recreate the sounds and atmosphere of these revered musical venues is the mission of the band.
The Rambunkshus repertoire is huge and sets can be tailored to suit different events and occasions. Everything from a Motown-style revue, through mainstream Soul and Rhythm and Blues from labels like Stax and Atlantic, to Northern and rare Soul can be delivered in separate or mixed sets with equal competence. Artists covered range from the brightest stars of Motown, such as The Temptations, The Four Tops, Smokey Robinson, The Isley Brothers, The Supremes and Stevie Wonder, to the greats of Rhythm and Blues like Ray Charles, Louis Jordan, Chuck Berry, Sam Cooke and James Brown, to the less famous but equally esteemed stars of Northern Soul, such as Solomon Burke, Jackie Wilson, Johnny Taylor and Billy Butler. Experienced Soul DJs can also be provided as part of a package.
With a versatile seven-piece line-up of professional and semi-professional musicians consisting of bass, drums, keyboards, two guitars, sax and trumpet, four of whom sing lead vocals and five backing vocals, Rambunkshus can comfortably and authentically cover all of the above.
With around 200 years combined experience covering every style of music, from Classical to Blues, Jazz to Country, and having backed and supported artists as diverse as B. B. King, Tom Jones, Jimmy Ruffin, John Mayall, Linda Gail Lewis, Freddie Starr and Screaming Lord Sutch (!), the members of Rambunkshus have truly paid their musical dues and can be relied upon to deliver a unique, polished and professional performance.

We got some new tunes and a new trumpet player with us for this one and we're raring to go. Hope you all can make it again and we'll have a Special Soul Sunday.
