Just a very short post (for me anyhow)

A massive thank you to each and everyone of you who attened last nights event at "The Rotherham Soul Train" at the Transport Club and even more so on a very wet and cold night.

Sadly guest DJ Melvin Walker who had stepped in as a replacement wasn't able to make it due to illness i'm sure i speak on the behalf of everyone in saying, we send all our best wishes to you and hope you get well soon.

After some minor teething problems on my part (these things happen with original vinyl records that are nearly 50 years old) i got into my stride and under the very capable supervision of Jarvo (who now having it pointed out to me bares an uncanny resemblence to the Jedi master Yoda) got on with the job in hand and i played a pretty steady solo set and a perhaps an even more old school one when myself and Jedi master Jarvo (or should that be Yoda?) double-decked for the last hour.

Jarvo played an impressive selection of modern soul and if i'm honest i tend to prefer a more traditional feel to my soul music but what a pleasant suprise some great tracks were given a well deserved play and i'd never heard one of them (okay you're saying i need to get out more....and you're right!) but each and every song was a dancer, rare and underplayed and very expensive but some quality songs never the less.

Jarvo, treating the dancers to some high end modern soul

A nice friendly old style club with that true Northern Soul feel to it, friendly club owners who know how to keep a cellar and a large and spacious talc friendly dance floor, i'll be looking forward to my next visit there as either a guest or patron and recommend a night there to anyone who hasn't been before.

Russ

Oh and two final mentions before i go, firstly, Angie for doing the thankless task of looking after the door and never once complaining and to club co-owner Paul for his fantastic fund rasing work for two very deserving charities your work is amazing and you really are an unsung hero that deserves so much more credit for all your hard work!
