Here is a short piece about the club which was featured in the news section and provides a brief overview (as well as the top spins of the resident DJ's)

"We just want to thank those who have continued to support us since the creation of Inner City Soul club last March and to announce that we have moved to a new and fantastic venue in London - Duke's. The new venue is a short walk from Liverpool St. and Aldgate Stations, and is complete with a large wooden dance floor and incredible sound system.

We have a cracking line up for our next event, which will be running till 6 AM - Lars Bulnheim (flying over all the way from Hamburg), Marco Santucci and Kitch - so we hope to see some of you down there for what promises to be another night of amazing Rare Soul!

Over the past year we have had some fantastic and memorable events, with some of the best DJ’s from Europe including Edu Domingo, Laurent Reus, Malayka and Matt Fox and many others from the UK including Adam Torel, Callum Simpson, Rich Evans and the Va Va Voom boys.

As we are on the younger end of the soul spectrum (Tomas is 22 and James 29) our focus has always been on promoting an event which both appeals to dedicated soul fans but also focuses on creating an atmosphere which encourages a younger generation to enjoy this fantastic music. Consistent with this ideal we have always sought out DJ’s who we believe to be exciting and play the best across the board 60s and 70s soul records out there!

Here are the current favourite spins from the two residents to give you a flavour of the club...

James Pogson:

Ishola Muhammad — “Open Up Your Heart” (Guess)
Little Willie Johnson — “Loneliness” (Vendella’s)
John Harris and the Soul Sayers — “Hangin’ In” (Kerston)
Harvey Scales & the Seven Seas — “Trying To Survive” (Magic Touch)
Mellow Madness — “Save The Youth” (Mega)

Tomas McGrath:

The Soul Injection — “Stay Off The Moon” (Accent)
The Underground Express — “I Never Found A Girl” (U.G.E.)
Kelly & The Soul Explosions — “Talking About My Baby’s Love” (Dynamite)
Charlene & The Soul Serenaders - “Can You Win” (Volt)
Paul Burton — “So Very Hard To Make It (Without You)” (Music-Go-Round)"

Introducing our next guest DJ, all the way from Hamburg, Germany....LARS BULNHEIM!!!

My name is Lars Bulnheim, I'm 46 years old and I got the soulbug since my early 20th. It all started with a fleamarket find; a 45 by Homer Banks on the Minit label "60 minutes of your love" and there was no stopping me in accumulating soul 45s since the needle of my record player hit the grooves of this 45 some 24 years ago.

My taste is rather widespread; I do love my 60's, but I like the funky sides and the 70's tunes as well! I try my best to play something fresh, everytime I DJ, I like to be entertained by my own records (and of course by my fellow DJs) and I get bored to fast with sounds I've heard too often; nothing thrills me more then hearing a fabulous record for the first time.

I'm a regular at the Bamberg-weekenders, the Hamburg-weekenders and I do DJ pretty much all around Europe these days. I love open minded people, who share the love for the music and appreciate new discoveries.

Southern Comfort & Friends: It's In My Letter * Sun City
Aggregation: A Child Is Born * Charity
J.T. Allen: Working Hard * Delmar
Richard Booker: Don’t Fight The Feeling * Virtue Acetate
Bobby Baker: Everything Has Got To Be Alright "š Da*Vi*Da

With less than a week to go here is our last (but not least) Guest DJ for Inner City Soul, the inimitable Marco Santucci!
We are really happy to have Marco down to play records with us again, he absolutely blew the roof off last time! Marco has traveled around the UK and Europe playing his soulful platters, which include mega-rare 6ts treats, obscure 70s and hard hitting soulful funk. His other interests include fine wine, 16th century madrigals and fishing.
Here are a few of his current favorite spins...
Jeffrey Gaiter "Struggling Ghetto Woman" (Murbo)
Jimmy Jules "Same Things That Make You Laugh Make You Cry" (Jim Gem)
Precisions "My Sense Of Direction" (Hen Mar)
Love Warmth and Affection "Talkin' About Love" (Weekend)
Billy Byrd Rhythm Section "Everything Changes" C/U
Frank Hutson and the Tower of Strength "Ocean If Dreams" C/U
