Looking forward to your performance iggy, certain you are going to blow peoples socks of in the first set. Hope people see this event in good time because we have a guest DJ JOHNNY GREENWOOD that everybody wants and only we've got. As a personal favour he is going to show people at NCSC why he used to get 350 people into a venue licenced for 150. Promises to be a blowing off the roof night.

Hi Christy...The last DJ wants to educate people about what Soul music is out there that is very infrequently played..This event is about well known with the odd memory jerker or song you've not heard before but all good dancers...So he has gone to play his personal choices somewhere else. The 3rd on Guy, the guest of the night loves the venue and has joined us permanently. His name is Simon Alsop and had quite a fan club at The Southside Club in Nottingham. We are more than happy to have him. Hope that meets your requirements sir.

An awesome night last month at this place. No wonder other venue's are saying not to go here they must be worried about this one. Usually you can sit for long periods waiting to dance but not here, they seem to play for the majority not themselves!. Was a little bit surprised by the last DJ as he seemed to do his own thing some of the time, perhaps he didn't have the right type of records with him. I am coming again this month and bringing some of my work friends.

Be great to see you Mr Paddywack, hope you enjoy our little 'love in'...Susan, the last DJ is no longer with us his taste in Soul is different to the kind of night this is, it is mainly a thumping oldies but goodies night. All good dancing records. And your friends are in for a complete one off event. Johnny Greenwood on the decks for one night only.....not to be missed!!!

.

I decided to give your event a try for the first time and put my feelings about the woman who did not ask permission around me before blinding you with a great big camera, all night. Unfortunately you decided to remove what I said. This 'lady' also told me where I can and can't go for a night out. Sorry that is not a way to treat your customers and I will not return. I will however go to the dance in Nottingham on Saturday as I will not be dictated to. Shameful

Mate, We've lost the Irish and there isn't much left in town. I was there and that woman was rubbishing a venue that starts this Saturday in town. It hasn't even started yet so telling people they mustnt go ispure nasty. I got my own mind and will decide for meself. NO MISUNDERSTANDING

OMG...I am so sorry this has blown up at your event. I have been buried under home life and getting ready for Saturday. I was invited by Gaz Archer to drop in on the last night of the Fed and he graciously said I would be allowed to put out our flyers. I enjoyed my evening there and I am one of the people that like 'Tribute' and it was good to hear it. Kev may I slightly correct you in that I have not engaged in a visual disagreement at any event with Olly. When I started the Monastery Olly told me she could make or break an event and she became very helpful in raising our profile, probably in the same way you thought she would for you. I was not experienced in promoting and made a comment online at another event which was misconstrued, I have been welcomed back by that event and put our flyers out there. However Olly openly vilifies me to everybody at every Nottingham event I go to and I have even had messages from people who have been at Stoke and she was doing the same there apparently. It is not nice to be at an event and somebody is within a few feet of you telling people not to even speak to me. It is incredibly hurtful and the sort of thing that makes people kill themselves.

I fully believe DBSC had nothing to do with telling people not to come to our new event and I hope all the guys from DBSC come to us on Saturday to reaffirm this view. I would like to point out that destroying events loses jobs for bar staff and could lose homes for social club stewards, but maybe most important it removes a night that people could enjoy in their lives.

I hope that Olly's husband does not get it into his head to use violence on me because I have apologized to you for this happening at your event and giving you an incite into the history of this situation. I have had 2 Strokes and a blow to my head could kill me and I hope Olly's husband takes this onboard. The solution maybe that Olly keeps her opinions of an event that she does not go to to herself. I enjoyed my night at DSBC despite the unpleasantness that Olly displays to me, She has been doing this to me for over a year now and it would be nice if it stopped.

I hope DBSC goes from strength to strength and I love the badge you gave me. If we exist in the future I hope we can work together perhaps on a charity event. Many regards

I agree with the majority of what you say Mr Nimble and we are lucky to have lived through the explosion of this wonderful music that we love. Unlike you I am only a recent returner and want to bring back some of the music I loved but don't hear. I am only a Palais, Colemans boy and never came across any animosity whilst out. But there again I was just a kid who wanted a girlfriend and enjoyed the music.I did not know what went on behind the scenes in managing events. Have to say it hasn't been a pleasant experience so far, be nice if it changed.

The good, the bad & the ugly (allegedly the same individual!)…  Plugging your own event at the expense of other venues nono.gif

And so it continues....Any way..went out Saturday night to The Festival Nottingham for the first time in over 40 years. Absolutely loved it. Fitzi and Mrs Fitzi absolutely straight down the line. Also had their trials and tribulations in the soul scene some of their past experiences from other individuals was blood curdling. I was the only one putting out flyers from another event..draw from that what you will?..really enjoyed the night and a real friendly party atmosphere. People in the full Northern regalia etc..

Nice to have an evening out where everybody talks to everybody else and have a laugh and a dance. A change from being glared at for trying to continue an institution in Nottingham, having your flyers ripped up, or the only ones on a big table being used to stand beer glasses on and soaked through, or being tucked under everybody else s flyers so you can't see them. Not to mention all the other stuff highlighted before.

Any way we are here for people who have the courage to make their own decisions...

Also just occurred to me, I have received recent messages of support etc.. if anybody try's to message me I am afraid I cannot reply to you as my message facility has been removed from me for the time being, so I cannot see if you have messaged me or reply. So please do not get offended if you have messaged me and you think I am ignoring you..

Just a small addendum to this situation...I am being monitored by Soul Source with a view to my account being allowed to continue so I am limited on what I can say. But would like to point out the allegations are being backed by those involved with other collaborating events and so have vested interests. It seems we really are outlaws to the establishment rather like Northern Soul was in its original day's. I hope we become a haven for those who love the music and just want to enjoy an evening away from the clickyness or perhaps have been on the receiving end of this kind of exclusion themselves.

A wonderful first night last month, 85 bodies in our cosey club, peeps from York, Skegby, Lincolnshire and Birmingham...and probably other exotic places I am not aware of. Looking forward to more classic soul and all movers tomorrow at this quaint place. Hope to see you there
