Round off the summer party season from Friday September 26th to Sunday September 28th at the fastest growing weekender in the country, as SSW4 today announces the programme for their 4th edition to be held in the new location of Preston’s Park Hall Hotel, only minutes from Liverpool, Manchester, Wigan, Bradford and Leeds - all incredible UK cities with a massive historical clubbing pedigree
Widely regraded as the "new kid" on the weekender block, SSW4’s meteoric rise in size and popularity has culminated in a move South this year to the North West of England, Preston. Attracting an international audience that travel from as far afield as Japan, North America, Brazil, Europe and every corner of the UK to attend the event, SSW4 has firmly established itself as a mecca for clubbers that love the purest and most underground forms of soul and house music around played by the world's top DJs and emerging talent from around the globe.
"It was this massive traveling fraternity that forced SSW's hand to move as there simply wasn't a free hotel or BnB bed in Dumfries when we were on so we simply had to move to a bigger area where there are more hotels" explains long time dance and soul music guru, Yogi Haughton, SSW's effusive hands-on promoter.
With over 60 DJs and Artists announced today SSW4’s line up this year includes the fast rising enigmatic Claptone joining headliners such as NYC House & Disco guru, Danny Krivit, the UK’s Hacienda mainman, Graeme Park, plus rare Live performances from legendary American soul artists, Ann Sexton and Garfield Fleming, and introducing what’s sure to be the Live smash of SSW4 - Big Brooklyn Red making his UK debut! Plus the US vocal kings of House Music, Michael Watford and Ce Ce Rogers... the Godfather of Manchester's clubbing - John Grant plays a Classic Rafter’s, Blackpool Mecca all dayers & Ritz set and newcomers Inland Knights join Crazy P, Fish Go Deep & Groove Assassin in the Main Arena...
SSW4 picks up where Jocelyn Brown, DJ Pierre, Nicky Siano and DJ Spinna left off last year...who picked up the baton from 2012’s Tony Humphries, Paul ‘Trouble’ Anderson, DJ Spen, Prins Thomas, Al Kent, Motor City Ensemble, Greg Wilson (Credit To The Edit), Ian Levine, Snowboy, Ralph Tee, Driza-Bone, Darrow Fletcher after 2011’s inaugral event with Kerri Chandler, Gwen McCrae, Todd Terry, Cassio Ware, Lil Louis, Joey Negro, Sean McCabe, Harri (Sub Club) and Arthur Fenn.
Hailed by those who come to hear the best in rare soul, deep, soulful 'n' jackin' house, modern/Northern/60's soul, rare boogie 'n' disco, jazz, edits, funk, nu disco and experience the unique atmosphere of SSW4's staggering 4 Arenas powered by 50K of Pure Void/Nexus bass in the Main Pressure Point Arena with 30k rigs in the 3 other Arenas. The Pressure Point’s headliners this year include legendary NYC master mixer, Danny Krivit, Ireland’s Fish Go Deep, Crazy P, Inland Knights, Groove Assassin and Mad Mats from Sweden, and heavyweight house all the way.
SSW4’s newest arena, The Blue Room is now a permanent fixture with its classic & acid house, edits, electronica, nu disco and jackin’ sounds, headlined this year by Germany’s enigmatic man in the mask, Claptone alongside Sweden’s b-boy & house guru, Mad Mats, Leeds’ loose canon, Crazy P going wherever the groove goes, Graeme Park playing the Ultimate Hacienda set and Freerange’s house maestro, Jimpster. It's where a new music scene could be born before your very ears.
The Shrine Room, which is one of the most musically forward thinking soul rooms in the UK is headed up this year by one of the Godfather’s of Manchester's clubbing - John Grant playing a Classic Rafter’s, Blackpool Mecca all dayers & Ritz set. He is joined by Soul Sam, Edit king, Fingerman, Horsemeat Disco’s Luke Howard and Graeme Park playing a rare disco set.
Live wise, No-bullsh*t, bona-fide Northern soul star Ann Sexton makes only her 2nd appearance in the UK singing classic hits ‘You’ve Been Gone Too Long’, ‘You’re Loosing Me’ and "You're Gonna Miss Me" originally put out on small label Seventy-7 Records. Sexton has dusted off some of her material from the classic mid-70s period, and just what the crowd are after in the wake of the recent classic soul revival, which has seen the rise of Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings and Amy Winehouse.
Big Brooklyn Red is ‘one of the best young soul singers around that nobody knows about’ and an incredible talent who also makes his UK debut at SSW4. Seeing him perform must be on every soul music lover’s bucket list.
Philadelphia’s Garfield Fleming also makes his debut appearance at SSW4, and widely hailed as ‘one of the best singers of soul music’ from his "Don't send me away / You got dat right" doubleheaderon Becket Records "Let's turn in early" on Gimme Five Records.. He has also performed with world class artists such Bobby Womack, Billy Paul, William Hart of the Delfonics, Ron Isley, Jerry Butler and Major Harris
The vocal kings of House Music, Michael Watford and Ce Ce Rogers fly in Exclusively from the USA to make their SSW4 debuts with anthems such as ‘So Into You’/’My Love’/‘Say Something’/It’s Over’ and ‘Someday’/It’s Alright’ respectively, bringing the New Jersey gospel house flavour and original Chicago house sound alive.
SSW4’s innovative Goldmine Arena has become a major part of the event where 25 DJs can book a slot to play at SSW4 and actually be part of the weekender line up with their name on the website and official programme alongside the massive SSW4 line up. Get your applications in early as it’s one of the success stories of SSW events and always packed with people checking out the new, raw and often undiscovered talent.
SSW4 is dedicated to offering a truly unique and one off experience for all those keen to soak up the atmosphere generated by over 60 DJs and live acts playing the best in dance music from across all the genres, and not just a list of run of the mill artists as reflected throughout some other UK festivals.
Showcasing rising stars alongside Soul Music’s rarest talents in an intimate setting, spread across 2 days and 3 nights, SSW4 is proud of it's quirky and different attitude that doesn’t follow trends.
