The Autumn Armagnac!

If you missed the Spring & Summer sessions, commiserations!

Don't make the same mistake again, you'll miss this one at your peril!

An all day event at our new residence, the fantastically opulent Belair House with a superb Dj line up to round off the year, across two rooms playing the very best rare 60's/70's Northern Soul, Crossover, R&B & Funk!

Welcoming back to VaVa Voom,

One of our very first guest Dj's & always one of our favourites,

a semi-resident if you will,

The Great"King"Arthur Fenn!

Another VaVa Voom veteran & bastion of the uber rare 45' who will ave any Herbert recruited & on the floor quicker than a Royal Green Jacket hot-footing it to the front line!

Funky, Fresh & Fruity, our two seasonal Red Coats keeping the campers contented & the average age of the crowd 30 below,

Inner City Souls'

Tomas"The Scholar"McGrath!

The next seven jocks all making debut appearances at VaVa Voom.

First up, from Glasgow, a former resident of the infamous Caledonia soul Club & currently the True Soul Weekenders among many others,

A True Scottish Soul Legend,

Lenny"The Greek"Harkins!

Working our way south with a plethora of crossover rarities & obscurities.

The Darlington brickie with a hod full of rare 45's,

Nev Griffith!

From east to west, The Scouse Sensation, aka,

The"Phenomenal"Brian Flanders!

Expect a bit of everything from classic to obscure soul rarities, Jazzy delights & some Rhythm & Blues belters from two Cornerstones or dare I say

Leg Ends of the London Mod/Soul scene for 30 plus years!

"Catford"Chris Dale!

Ian"Blow Up"Jackson!

Keeping an international flavour we welcome,

Christophe Bidaud!

A Dj from the French soul scene with impeccable taste, Christophe runs the fantastic

"Shoes Weekender" in Cognac & is sure to bring a certain Je ne sais quoi or perhaps that should that be VaVa Voom to le proceedings!

And finally if music be the food of love,

then we have a gastronomic audio tour de force fresh from Bagdad via the A3.

Serving up a smorgasbord of soul platters good enough for the Captain's table, the one & only

Russ"Nautical But Nice"Vickers!

Bringing up the rear!

Your resident rearguard renegades,

Joel"The Bromley Sapper"Maslin

Ady"The Whitstable Slapper"Lupton!

Well, what can you say, another great day n night with the Va Va Voom boys n girls....arrived about 3pm, got settled down, said hellos & got a few ciders down me....thought the afternoon sets were really good n well thought out, extremely eclectic with sounds from the 6ts onwards & pretty much every genre of Rare Soul n Funk covered....whats more, due to the professionalism of the DJ's it all flowed nicely & the crowd were well up for hearing something new. Thoroughly enjoyed my set & was thrilled with the reaction of the dancers, strokers & other DJ's...the place continued to fill up nicely & the fact that the nights are drawing in helped get the atmosphere going early, nice n dark. The music in both rooms through out the night was inspiring, I spent most of my time in the slightly smaller room, as I had a late set in there & wanted to keep on top of what was being played...on the occasions I popped into the other room, it was ticking over nicely too, all the DJ's bought their A game & whilst a little unfair to highlight Kitch n Arthur, they did deliver the goods in immaculate style, thanks to Kitch for playing my request, Originals - Young Train...sounded even better played out at a venue & I had a bit of a wiggle.... in the other room mean while, amongst some great sets of music, a special mention to Thomas McGrath & James Pogson, they know their crowd & raised the atmosphere to another level, dance floor rammed & happy smiley faces every were, Nev Griffiths played the kinda set I was hoping to hear from him & included a lot of new to me things, as well as the top class rarities you would expect ala United Sounds etc ooooossshhhhhh....Flanny, nailed it as ever, as did Chris Dale.... apologies for not dissecting every set, but every DJ i heard yesterday was spot on Arthur Fenn, Kitch, Lenny Harkins, Nev Griffiths, 'Catford' Chris Dale, Ian Jackson, Flanny, Christophe Bidaud, and the terrible twosome Tommy McGrath & Jimmy Pogson take a bow....you delivered. It just leaves me to say a huge thanks to Ady, Joel,Yann & also to Dru & all the girls & behind the scenes helpers, for bringing us this very special event. Thanks to everyone for making me feel very welcome & for dancing & much love to all my friends, twas great to see you all.... & finally big up to the Scots, brilliant to meet you, great sets Lenny & had a great craic....if you want to hear a selection of the best Soul Music you are likely to hear any where on the planet, together with a friendly well up for it crowd, who wanna have a good time, then seriously get ya selves to Va Va Voom, its totally off the hook....thanks Russ

Well Russ has beaten me to it but just to reiterate we'd like to give a massive thank you to everyone who came along & supported us once more!

Big thanks to all the jocks, Arthur, Kitch, Lenny, Chris, Brian, Christophe, Ian, Nev, James & Tomas for their sterling work behind the decks!

Big, big thanks too for Dru, Julia & Lucy for frisking the general public of their hard earned cash & keeping the rabble in & out!

We had a few sound issues early on which we managed to resolve, apologies to poor Ian who took the brunt of this malfunction!

Numbers were a little down on previous events early on but by the evening it was nicely full of regulars & plenty of new faces too!

Thanks once more to everyone who attended & to those who helped promote, dish out flyers & spread the word, we couldn't have done it without you!

Hope you enjoyed it!
