Great Big Kiss in London
After four happy years at the Buffalo Bar in Islington (which was forced to close at the end of 2014), northern soul and 60s girl groups club Great Big Kiss opens in its new central London home.
A few minutes walk from Oxford Circus tube station, The Phoenix is a wonderful basement bar that's hosted soul and mod nights for the last 30 years. It's a touch bigger than our old home at the Buffalo Bar (so there'll be a bit more room to dance), has a lovely wooden dancefloor, a great sound system, and a bar serving pints at pub prices.
Our guest DJs for our opening night at The Phoenix are Sarah and Janine of The Actionettes, who have DJ-ed several times at Great Big Kiss, and always play a fantastic set of 60s girl groups and northern soul.
Admission is the usual price of £4 for members and £6 for non-members. We'll run from 9pm-3am, as before. The only change is that we'll be on the second Saturday of the month, rather than the second Friday. So our first night is Saturday January 10th.

'This monthly club night celebrates the sounds of the Sixties, playing a variety of music genres including soul, Motown and pop, all on vinyl. Some dress in vintage to match the theme, but everyone is there for the music. The homely basement makes this event feel like an authentic 60s night out. You have to be serious about your Sixties and register as a member to get in.' - High Life magazine
