From a very wet Steel City it's a very good evening everyone,

Having had a little telephone conversation with Mr Wood he informs me that both himself and Mr Manley have both been busy acquiring new vinyl for June's CCS event at The Old Nags Head and as you're all well aware,

Well it's a very good evening to everyone and just chance to wish you all a great

and hope you all have a great one if you can images%20bh_zpsboak0n54.jpg

Well as time and tide wait for no man as the saying goes so and neither do the CCS team as you know always a top blend of classy Northern Soul, Motown and the coolest R&B around to be heard as well as classic old school gems and talking of gems.......here's a tune that i've been giving a fair amount of deck time to at CCS's sister event "The Corner Pocket" in Mexborough and perhaps It might just get a spin in June at The Old Nags Head!

The Epitome Of Sound "Where Where You" Sandbag Records ("B" side to "You Don't Love Me")

Well most of us know the name or indeed if we don't we certainly know one of the all time favourite Northern Soul tracks of all time their recording "You Don't Love Me" but how many out there have missed the records "B" side the fantastic "Where Where You"?

"Where Were You" makes a very pleasent change to the more played "A" side and why oh why didn't "You Don't Love Me"become a massive hit in it's day and although it did achieve a morderate amount of success on a local basis in fact "You Don't Love Me" went as high as number 11 on Cleveland's local record chart (I seem to remember a figure once mentioned of sales being in the region of 50,000 discs by a band member or even perhaps Robert Paladino the songs creative force who both wrote and produced both tracks) The Epitome Of Sound was way ahead of it time with it's mixed ethical members four white band members and fronted by Eugene Thomas, an African American as lead singer, but sadly as things were starting to look good for the group and stardom was almost in their grasp, their record company went bankrupt and effectivly left the band high and dry and only a year later The Epitome Of Sound was no more a sad fate for a great group that were so very near to being so much more than they were to be.

"Where Were You" has a building intro with a great understated vocal and that all important beat, with some very well worked strings and a nice touch of choral backing that takes the song to another level, a simple and very catchy mid-tempo dancer that has that certain X-Factor that some records just possess that no matter what time of the night you play them they just seem to fit the mood of the floor and here is one such record and in my opion perhaps is one of the greatest double siders in the world of Northern Soul, and to me about as good as any track can be that sums up the passion and feeling that is Soul Music in the simplest manner it can.....an underplayed classic!

Evening Woody,

You've beat me to tonight's post, yeah "Where Were You" has really took off at CCS's sister event "The Corner Pocket" and seems to be at the moment a regular on my playlist (and as much as i like to play a different spot everytime sometimes you just have to play what the dance floor want...simple as)

I wonder if "Where Were You" could become the favoured play over "You Don't Love Me" doubtful i know but there was a time (no pun intened) when Jack Montgomery's "Dear Beloved" (or on some issues "My Dear Beloved" was the "B" side to "Do You Believe It" a full weight dancer of a record that i haven't heard played out in a very long time yet "Dearly Beloved" is a regular staple spin across the length and breath of the country's Northern Soul events yet once perhaps passed over as too slow from the time when anything that didn't break the 100 MPH mark were all but dismissed as simply not fast enough, but as we're now very well aware the slower and mid-tempo spins seem to have won the dancers and the dance floor over and songs that might never had or at best only limited exposure sit very well today.

So here for those of us that remember when this was very much the prefered play here's

Hi everyone,

I'm still no wieser as to Mr Manley's largest additions to the collection but rest assured that the quality will be there as it always is.

Team captain Woody has yet to inform me of the well awaited CCS Top Ten and both he and Frank do offer a very varied play list that has the widest of takes from the musical Soul spectrum, and this month's special guest DJ Mr Les Hare is sure to bring a slightly different take on matters and as his reputation goes before him you're in for a crackin' night of quality tunes.

And like CCS's sister event at The Corner Pocket in Mexborough everything is geared 100% to the dance floor and if your passion is for a touch of old school Rhythm'n'Blues this is the place to be both Woody and Frank have some impressive vinyl in their collections and you never know you might even get a dash of Ska thrown in.

Great cosy venue and a welcoming crowd that lifts this night to something a little bit special and out of the ordinary and of course always aimed at your enjoyment.

Well it's a very warm hello to everyone.

And it's looking like at long last we're going to get a touch of nice weather not before time but better late than never.

So for all our CCS followers who always ask when will the new Top Ten be getting published well I'm pleased to say Mr Wood will be giving me the chart rundown tomorrow so as soon as I get the details I'll post them here....once more thanks for all the positive feed back and comments we get in connection with our chart.

And talking of The CCS team as of this very moment the Manchester branch were out and about flyering (is flyering a real word?) and spreading the City Centre Soul message both near and far, all the gang really do put in the miles and attend so many other events it's hard to keep track with them but Woody, Miss T and Frank and not forgetting the CCS foot soldiers who believe in the soul family mantra of,

"give support to get support" and of course tell the world about this great event.

So till I get our new Top Ten (ETA around tea time i'm told) keep looking at our posts via Soul Source to keep informed about the latest and greatest tunes that are making it onto the decks at The Old Nags Head where musical quality is never compromised.

Well it's a very good evening everyone and nice to see the Soul Source website up and running again (even though I'm not sure if it's working 100%)

So what's been happening in the week or so that things hhave been off the air, well Woody and Frank have been busy record buying and I'm without home internet thanks to Sky Broadband and the house hard line as well so as soon as I'm sorted the CCS Top Ten will be published....

Thanks for your patience and excuse any bad grammar or spelling as I'm posting via my mobile.

So fingers crossed up and running ASAP.
