As the above two eminent 'diarist' have stated it was really heartwarming to see the 'soulies' from near and far turning out on the coldest (believe me, stood on the door freezin' me rocks off) night of the year to support our fundraising efforts. Your presence in spite of the most difficult conditions, some people from North Yorks making megga detours to avoid the snow, in order to make a physical contribution speaks highly for your commitment to the cause of Charity Soul.

The night itself was a RESOUNDING SUCCESS, its always difficult to replicate the initial brilliant May all-dayer here, but IMHO I think we managed to achieve as good, if not better event. As DEKKA/Andy states a BIG BIG thank you to all the Admin./Bar/Security staff  who went out of their way to assist, help and guide the soulies around the venue.

All the dj's gave brilliant professional sets, with the reward of seeing dance floors full in all the rooms, the Motown room with 'Scotty' being a WOW with the Ladies, the TOCMIESTER set the tone in the Northern Room stating at the start of his set".....................right this is as slow as its gonna get to nite"............ and kicked off with Little Richard's  "Get Down With It"   lol

As the inimitable legend that is Mick Morgan (Morgie) would say "...............................a can't spake".

Wow where do I start , maybe a big thank you to Leeds rhinos / Yorkshire Carnegie and their staff for allowing us to host a event at their famous stadium , a bi...g thank you to all the DJs who gave us their time FOC , to play some fantastic sets and keep the dance floors busy all the time in all 4 rooms , but a massive THANK YOU to all who attended and supported us in freezing conditions , an absolutely tremendous turn out , not as busy as last time but we reckon we had over 500 people there , which is brilliant for a one day event so near to Christmas, and we can't declare just yet what the final total is as we have to wait for invoices for security etc , but I reckon we will have cleared £4000 , which is fantastic and will go direct to frontline cancer research , where it is needed , so if you was there then a massive thumbs up to you all , if you weren't there then you missed a belter , so watch this space for future dates at this iconic venue and many thanks again for your support , we look forward to seeing you all again , our next event is at the Manhattan club in Harrogate in jan , be nice to see you all there , if not then next year at Headingley stadium , for another dream event !!

As an aside, It would appear to me there is some sniping going on from another charity event promoter on the same night regarding and I quote " none of this profits bollox"

I find the belittling of hard working people for their own ends disgracefull, promoters of charity events throughout the country are in the quest of raising much needed monies and deserve all the encouragement and support as possible, to sink to the level of my charity is better that yours syndrome is an outrage.

Well despite the wind chill & sub zero temperatures  plus a multitude of other events, great numbers turned out .. some arriving before 4pm opening, many others still piling in at 9.30pm. 'Northern' room rammed, similarly the 'Motown'/Live Act' room, unfortunally never managed to sample the delights of the 'Modern' room  (but heard great comments). As expected spent most of the hours in 'Dekkas Roots Room'. Not as packed as the previous Rhinos event, but in fairness it was an even larger room than before, which could comfortably hold 300 plus.  Great crowd tho the majority of whom specifically coming for the Roots Room including  some nicely turned out mods and equally sharp dressers. Musically, (check out playlists  http://www.soul-source.co.uk/soulforum/topic/344778-play-list-‘dekka’s-roots-room’-charity-soul-uk-alldayer-21st/  ),   both riveting and refreshing with wide variety of 'mod' sounds ranging from Skip Robinson 'I just can't wait' to The Flames 'Broadway Junction' and Perry and the Harmonics 'Do the monkey with James'.  Nice to catch up with Simon Hunt & Paula Barker with the added bonus of their sales tables. Have to say each and everyone of the djs played outstanding sets - all very well received.

As for the overall event, very well organised, fantastic support with many travelling great distances. Professor Maitland was there answering questions about his remarkable cancer cure research. Most impressive, upmarket venue with pristine facilities and a credit to the generosity of Leeds Rhinos. Best of all seems like a shed load of money was raised again by Charity Soul Uk for the Professor and his team and everyone enjoying their music of choice across the four rooms.
Already looking forward to the next instalment - returning to The Manhattan Club, Harrogate on 23rd January 2016 for 3 room alldayer and 'Dekka's Roots Room' will be a 'Simon Hunt special' ! Details, http://www.soul-source.co.uk/soulforum/calendar/event/40900-charity-soul-uk-harrogate/
