It really is rewarding for us here at Charity Soul to see so may turn up for our charity events. Having seen at first hand the unstinting efforts put in by TOC, Nigel, Tony et al to make sure these go off without any unseen 'hitches' I can honestly say I've NEVER  in all my years  (no comment TOC) in employment, worked with such totally dedicated bunch of guys. The only 'problem' during the evening was that we ran out of wrist bands, such is the popularity of the Manhattan!!!!

We are constantly trying to improve (?) the experience at the Manhattan and make it (in spite of George Osborne) value for money, so that when people come on here say how much they enjoyed the event is a great reward for us.

The next scheduled events at the Manhattan are:

Saturday 23rd April

Saturday 23rd July

Saturday 22nd October

A grand day out as Walis and Gromit might say . first of all it goes without saying that these charity soul events are for a  superb cause and that all the money ends up where it needs to be , fighting cancer. Secondly as a stand alone soul event these three roomers tick all the boxes  . if you like Modern ,Northern or the magical mix that is the roots room you will hear plenty that you like .  I took my son [21 yrs] and two mates from Manchester over the pennines and we had a great day .congratulations to the organisers for all their hard work . look out for future Charity soul events in Harrogate and Leeds it really is a grand day out.

Had a fantastic night on Saturday.  The place was absolutely rammed!  Multi-room events are great, with something for everyone, but you do spend a lot of time speeding from one room to the other in the hope you don’t miss your favourite tunes.

I don't normally like driving to an event, as I do like a beer or three, but this is definitely one that I'm happy to drive to.

Fantastic to see my old mate Mr Drage, who played a brilliant spot - in fact the tunes in Dekka’s room kept me dancing all night.  It's just a shame I missed Steve Burke's spot in the main room, as I know he always delivers.

Only question I have is – when’s the next one?

Another great Charity Soul Uk event. There were another two 'charity' events in York so perhaps they saved the Manhattan being an embarrassing lockout, tho I understand it was close with wrist bands running out. The only downside being we missed catching up with some of the York regulars.

Never ceases to amaze me the graft and professionalism of the Charity Soul Uk team who once again delivered another excellent one plus all the djs across the three rooms who well and truly stepped up to the plate.

As always the Northern Room was busy, plenty of dance floor action and brilliant atmosphere. Must mention the 'modern room' - perhaps the best yet imo with a superb selection of tunes - Simon Hunt, who had his record sales table adjacent, also bent my ear with his compliments.

'Dekka's Roots Room' now opens a little later allowing a couple of freestyle spots early doors. Sadly I missed Jay Cee's but caught some of the Caverley Soul Club showcase from Di Layton and Steve Crawshaw. Cracking 7ts/ modern and hopefully we'll see more of them behind the decks at a future Charity Soul event.

Dekka's Roots Room was well and truly a 'Simon Hunt Special', curated by Simon and bringing his personal selection of djs. An eclectic mix of Mod, reggae/rocksteady/ska, 5ts & 6ts rnb, British Beat, Swing & Popcorn. Lovely to meet and chat to Kev Drage, reminiscing about our times in Peterborough  & thanks for the cd Kev.

Once again that lad Dekka did well - he's got a Mod room rightly to be proud of, with a deserved reputation. It was a close run thing tho, his sharp mod suit or the magnificent newly installed permanent dance floor....

Next one up at the Manhattan (23rd April) is a Mike Warburton Special in Dekka's Roots Room. Already an advance calendar highlight for many as, like Simon, Mike will be curating and bringing his personal selection of Djs associated with Manchester's 'Hideaway Club'  which presents another unique opportunity to see some of the finest making their debut in this neck of the woods. Plus there's no small matter of the May Leeds Rhinos spectacular.

Finally many thanks for the invite again to spin a few - playlist to follow.

Another superb night, really enjoyed spinnin for a spot and a half...... Been asked if I was doing a Charity CD of my spot again ( normally do and have contributed around £350 so far from my 3 previous Charity Soul CD's,) so if anyone is interested please let me know, playlist is on my facebook page. Will have some available at next event, and happy to receive donations of around £5 per disc, or donations can be made direct to Charity Soul. PM if you would like further info....cheers

Hi Guys:

This wasn't my first time at the Manhatten, but it was the first time I've played a modern set there. Early door means you can play and break tunes and a bit of necessity for me if the scene isn't to die of boardom: So a mix of favorites and newbies:

Cheryl Berdell    -              Giving It All To You           *

Carl Carlton         -              You Can’t Stop A Man In Love”  *

Gladys Knight    -              Make Yours A Happy Home
& The Pips

Gene Chandler -              Let Me Make Love To You            *

Winfield Parker                -              I Wanna Be With You

Dean Jackson     -              Ohh Baby

Lou Rawls           -              See You When I Git There            *

Barrett Strong   -              Is It True

Eugene Record -              Overdose of Joy

Jesse James       -              If You Want A Love Affair             *

If you like any or all of these, you might drop into the Claverly Soul Club, last Saturday of the month. :-)

All't very best

Steve
