This is an allnighter I always like to attend. Its a given here, with the magnificent building, that the atmosphere is always a good 'un.....BUT this time.it also had ,what I can only describe as an 'edge'. I don't know what the ingredients are.....BUT its a rarity (for me anyway...probably me age lol !!!)...that allnighters nowadays can offer that 'edge' vibe........its a throwback to nighters of yesteryear......where that 'edge' was nearly ALWAYS in evidence.....

Keep putting nighters like that on, Brent lad.....and you'll have to open downstairs as well !!!!

Nice one....and well done all !!

As my working habits have now changed for the better and the Silly Shifts are a distant memory, it gave us the opportunity to visit Brent and the gang at Swinton Palais All Nighter . An early start, 9.15 for us and the venue was rocking. A steady stream of punters were rolling up right up til Midnight and beyond. The upstairs room was a cracker. Manchester has always been blessed with great dance halls, this was no exception, incredibly easy to find too, within a stones throw of the M60 /A666 Jnc.

As I don't frequent all-nighters as often as I'd like to, this was a breath of fresh air, the floor was Busy--to--packed all night. Every DJ did a splendid job, great sets from Mr & Mrs Draper, Nige Brown was relentless in mixing the tunes and hammered the floor. John Vincent played a wildly varied set, never missing a beat and playing classic Southern Soul and Funky edged rarities alongside his established Nighter set. I must say the all Scottish lads did well, as did Pete Eccles, Ronnie & Ethan (I missed Jordan & Casper). How every Ted Massey Ripped the place to bits Parliaments, Mellow Souls, Eddie Parker,Hamilton Movement and all. A blinding set of rare original vinyl.

Great to see so many friends and be greeted with "What you doing here"? !

Well worth a visit a "Proper" old school Nighter !

Rob

SWINTON PALAIS  GOOD FRIDAY 25th March 2016   THE RESULTS !!!

Many thanks  to all who attended the first of our INTERNATIONAL  MATCHES ..

At INVICTA  in our 31st year .
As usual we strive to bring something special  to the table that will add to our members enjoyment.

North of the border there are many brilliant DJs that rarely get to showcase their skills and musical tastes.

This time we brought IMHO some of the  Best in Scotland and pitted them in friendly competition against a team of some of England's best including some of our own Swinton Usual Suspects.

The teams :-
Scotland
Captain Jack Mc dougall ( Stirling )....   Steve Willox (Aberdeen)...Stewart  O neill  ( Fife)...Des Crombie  (Aberdeen).

England ..
Super Ted  Massey ( Brum ). Kevin and Princess Denise Draper  ( Huntingdon)
Nige ( Les Battersby)Brown.  ( Coronation St or Stafford ). And  for the first time at Swinton ...  Mr.  John Vincent  ( Sheffield )

Plus support from the Swinton Usual Suspects . Jordan Wilson . Casper.   Pete Eccles . Ethan Howarth  and the Casino Casualty  Mr  Ronnie Hanley

Without Exception they all pulled out the stops to make this night one of those  " God I wished that I had gone nights"!!  They all did themselves and Swinton Palais proud!!
The Atmosphere, The Music, the Dancers were all Brilliant!!

NOW THE RESULTS !!!

I am sorry to say that with that Line up!! ..12 hours ,.  14 of the UK s Finest DJs  and Swintons great Atmosphere the result was fixed!!
There was only ever going to be One Winner !!!  ........    And that was  YOU! The INVICTA  MEMBERS Both OLD AND NEW!
