Counting down the days...

"Alberto Folpower began his soulful journey as a young mod sometime around the early eighties when he heard Bobby Sheen’s “Doctor Love” for the first time. Soon after, he realized there was no turning back, and began collecting rare American soul music on 45rpm vinyl full-stop. Since back in the day, Alberto has DJ’d at various events, both in the mod and scooterist communities, as well as many of the on-going Soul events in and outside Italy. He has been a resident dj at Rototom (IT), Purgeraj Zagreb (HR), Funksoulside (IT), Night Train (IT) and has shared the stage with the likes of Massive Attack, Ninja Tune, Nuphonic, among others. Beside being behind his own promotions with the Cannonball soul Italy dos, he runs his little label, Cannonball Records, of which the first impressive releases are rocking the dancefloors of the 4 continents.

Introducing guest Dj Dave Girdwood...
Where to start…I remembering listening to lots of Motown when I was growing up, then fell out of love with it when I was in my early teens and rebelled by listening to hip hop. I spent all the money I had on buying the latest LPs and 12”s from the States, I started going to clubs at 16 but they were all hip hop and funk clubs, like Chris I started to hear samples that sounded familiar and that made me root through my mum’s music collection again to find the originals and I discovered that I still loved them as much as I did when I was younger.
The first proper soul club I went to was Goodfoot in Glasgow at the Riverside club (totally by accident as I was helping a friend when she worked for the List), it looked like the gym hall from my old school but the music I heard that night was off the scale and I needed to know what and who it was…in the past few years I’ve became addicted to buying records again (thankfully my wife has the same addiction), I collect all types of soul but mainly seems to be 60s and Crossover…
These are some songs that I love playing either in the house or out a club
Tan Geers – What’s the use of me trying
Cliff Nobles – My love is getting stronger
Sam Fletcher – I’d think it over

Introducing guest Dj Chris de Luen

I'm an independent DJ..I mainly collect records but been DJing for a few year. I found I love it...??Soooo I started my love for soul music at an early age of 12. My two older brothers loved soul and still do to this day..I use to run home on a Friday after school to record solid soul on cannel four which was kind of modern soul but I found I loved the 60-70 the best mainly stuff that had a funky side... I used to good out to northern clubs at the age of 16. The Wealcroft ,,Mayfair. Windy Nook... Local clubs in Gateshead I'm first record I got was Footsie and seven days too long Chuck Wood on boots lol. .I got into old school hip hop too. Which I found lots of breaks form 60 soul tracks. So fare to say soul has been big part of my life. It's get been able to put it out there. For people to hear. My favourite tunes are top three tunes Frankie Beverly the pain goes deeper/ agents trouble/ soul machine better watch your fox.
