Fab night, 'up for it' crowd - aren't they always at 'Soul in the Basement' and great tunes encompassing a broad mix under the 'mod' genre, ska/reggae, 6ts RnB, Latin, Popcorn and some brilliant 'Northern' to compliment.

Stand out sets from Deka,  Sean Courtney, Gordie Pearson and host Brian Carndo. Lots of first time RnB & Popcorn for me from Sean - worth the trip alone hence Glasgow's  monthly 'nowt but northern' and their Rare Soul and 6ts RnB event in September at the O2 beckons. Gordie  played outstanding 6ts northern with a twist - well chosen for the discerning punters, Deka - choice cuts of ska & RnB with sweet 6ts and a tinge of mod/rockabilly from Brian.
Ray Sharpe 'Linda Lu' to a female version of 'let's talk it over', Ansell Collins 'bigger boss', Primaveras 'magic touch',  Rufus Lumley   'Minneap'lis Minnesota', Prince Buster 'train to girls town',
Bottom and Co 'gotta find a true love', Curtis Lee 'is she in your town', Eskew Reeder 'undivided love',  Louis Jordan 'old age' and Harold Jackson 'freedom riders'  typified the captivating variety - loved it and of course that iconic basement venue which despite its size/intimacy, has also hosted some great American Blues and Jazz acts in years gone by.  Recommended. Future 2016 dates, April 16, May 14, July 16, Sept  17, Oct 15, Dec 17.
