Into 2016 with the Sink Soul Club, Liverpool!

The best afternoon soul session in the area in this legendary original 60s basement club!

For those traveling from afar, make a day of it, there are some great pubs and eateries very very close by.

The pubs include the following;

Fly In The Loaf - less than 100 yards down Hardman Street on the same side as the Sink, selling a wide range of Real Ales and foreign beers. Great pub and one of my first port of calls whenever I'm in Liverpool.

Roscoe Head - on Roscoe Street, another 100 yards down from the Fly In The Loaf, again on the same side after crossing the lights at Rodney Street.

Philharmonic - literally 20 yards away at the top of Hardman Street and same side as the Sink. Has one of the most ornate Gentleman's toilets in the country, not to mention the bar and the rest of its interior. Swan Inn - Wood Street, a kind of heavy metal pub with great selection of Real Ales, including Wobbly Bob, which is always on and very popular with the locals.

There are loads more dotted about very close by. Click on this link for a map of them all.

Some of the eateries are as follows;

Fly In The Loaf - Great Bar food!!! Recommended.

Bistro Jacques - almost next door to the Sink. I've heard it's excellent.

Ego Mediterranean - Just across the road from the Sink and next door to the Royal Philharmonic Hall on Hope Street. I've eaten here and it's excellent.

Lucha Libre - Mexican food of outstanding quality. It's literally just 50 yards away from the Swan Inn I mentioned above as one of the pubs to visit. It's less of a restaurant and more of a 'canteena' (purposely spelled incorrectly) with basic decor and furniture but it's fast food with quality and mule like kicks.

I could go on forever, as there's so many great places to drink and eat in the 'Hope Street Quarter' / 'Georgian Quarter' of Liverpool, within which the Sink resides. And of course, we haven't mentioned Chinatown yet, which is also within a 5 minute stroll downhill from the Sink.

More great places to eat include the Mowgli at 69 Bold street. I was there on Tuesday with my good friend Phil Saxe and the food was awesome, and I mean that. It's a bit like a Spanish Tapas but with Indian cuisine. HIGHLY recommended!!!

Another great place to eat, before you arrive at the Sink at 3pm of course, is the Lebanese street food restaurant 'Bakchich'. I visited this place a few weeks ago with my eldest lad Michael and we were amazed at how good the food was. I can't wait for my next visit, there's so much choice on the menu.

If you fancy a quick bite to eat without the time usually required for a restaurant meal, try Wok & Go at 64 Bold Street for some brilliant Chinese food in a box, where you can eat in or take away. It's really good, I've lost count of the times I've visited this place in recent months.

Right, see you all there a week this Sunday.

Watch this space for further pre-SINK culinary delights of Liverpool

Anybody not wishing to use street parking from 3pm until 6pm, after which it's free, or can't find any when they arrive, then they can use this parking facility, which is open 24 hours and only 500 metres away from the Sink;

The Sink Soul Club is one of the few remaining original 60s basement soul clubs left in the North West of England, this iconic venue is fast becoming one of the top Sunday afternoon events in the area.

Since we restarted the Sink Soul Club events last year attendances have increased with each event. Sunday 21st February will be a packer, why not come along and see for yourself?

Nearest railway station to venue ?

Nearest station is Lime Street, ten minute walk to the Sink but plenty of places to stop off for refreshment if needed!

A taxi from the station to the club would probably be a fiver or so.
