Great afternoon and evening. A delayed arrival tho , the first hour trailing around the various car parks in a convoy of others looking for a space – Whitby was very very busy…

Venue turned out to bit of a tardis , opening out into a rear function room behind the record booth (nice surprise). In front of the booth, a wooden floor to dance , cleared of tables and chairs in the evening…

Absolutely rammed throughout, spilling out onto the Quayside and side entrance.

Lovely, helpful bar staff and owners and what a great crowd of scooterists and soul fans and with that in mind musically, deliberately more mainstream than associated with the Roots Room at the Manhattan Club and Leeds Rhinos, hence in the main the choice of 6ts RnB, mod, ska/reggae and northern classics played.

Guests ‘Spike’ – clearly a Whitby legend played some great ska/reggae and mod classics and fellow ‘Whitbyite’ Ron Lavender delivered the northern classics with a touch of RnB whilst Dekka and I toned down our Roots sounds and added a few others to suit .

Generous crowd donating into the Charity Soul bucket, a raffle and a donation from the Buck Inn made it quite humbling with much needed funds for Charity Soul to pass direct to Professor Maitland and his Cancer cure research team.

Well done Dekka for hosting/organising and to everyone who came in their droves to support the event and Charity Soul UK.

Will post playlist on appropriate thread.

Looks like being a packer ...

Had fantastic response from facebook, I've advised people to get there early for both sessions as obviously there will be a limit due to fire regs

For those staying over , the scooter Rideout sets off from the whalebones at mid day, Sunday, heading for Heartbeat country. If your not partaking it's a joy to behold with those magnificent Lambrettas , Vespas etc.

The venue (Buck Inn) has accomodation and for those who fancy camping,  checkout the vfm site - they have organised a scooterist campsite.

Don't forget this is free entry,

however, there will be a donations bucket and raffle prizes so as we can raise as much funds as possible for Cancer Research.

In case anyone is unsure where the venue is, it's close to the Magpie Cafe,

Anyone attending the Rally or anyone who wants to experience a National Scooter Rally and or has never experienced the Mod sounds of Dekka's Roots Room then I would thoroughly recommend you making the effort and get yourselves to the Go Go.

The Whitby National Scooter Rally is the perfect backdrop for this event

Yep , Roots Room venue (Buck Inn) is on the Quayside just a few doors away from the world famous fish and chip emporium - The Magpie .

In the field of Soul Music I'll bow to your unquestionable knowledge Mr. Bellwood, but when It comes to the culinary delights of dining I think I'm the master and IMHO (and also  Mr Whitby -Ron lavender) in thinking that TRENCHERS has the edge, plus its easier to get a table.

Me and Mrs H H are having a day by the seaside, along with this guy, so see you there:

so perhaps an appropriate request for us when we get to the Buck Inn is Rufus Thomas' - 'Walking The Dog'

Hi Dekka 'n Andy

Any chance of a dj time list, so me and 'her who must be obeyed' can plan our visit and fit you into our itinerary, between visits to 199 steps, Trenchers, Abbey Vaults, Middle Earth,  etc etc

Hi Dave, will be great to see the both of you.

Dekka will post rest of times I'm sure - I'm behind the decks for the last afternoon spot (15.30 - 16.30), then 1st in the evening (20.00 - 21.00) so plenty of time for 'the boss' to organise you in between. lol.
