Great afternoon and evening. A delayed arrival tho , the first hour trailing around the various car parks in a convoy of others looking for a space – Whitby was very very busy…

Venue turned out to bit of a tardis , opening out into a rear function room behind the record booth (nice surprise). In front of the booth, a wooden floor to dance , cleared of tables and chairs in the evening…

Absolutely rammed throughout, spilling out onto the Quayside and side entrance.

Lovely, helpful bar staff and owners and what a great crowd of scooterists and soul fans and with that in mind musically, deliberately more mainstream than associated with the Roots Room at the Manhattan Club and Leeds Rhinos, hence in the main the choice of 6ts RnB, mod, ska/reggae and northern classics played.

Guests ‘Spike’ – clearly a Whitby legend played some great ska/reggae and mod classics and fellow ‘Whitbyite’ Ron Lavender delivered the northern classics with a touch of RnB whilst Dekka and I toned down our Roots sounds and added a few others to suit .

Generous crowd donating into the Charity Soul bucket, a raffle and a donation from the Buck Inn made it quite humbling with much needed funds for Charity Soul to pass direct to Professor Maitland and his Cancer cure research team.

Well done Dekka for hosting/organising and to everyone who came in their droves to support the event and Charity Soul UK.

Will post playlist on appropriate thread.
